We usually stay in Intercontinental Hotels Worldwide for their excellent reputation for service and this hotel was no exception. The staff were very helpful especially the concierge who really went out of her way to arrange things for us. The rooms were spacious but bathroom on the small size for a hotel of this standard. The breakfast buffet was excellent...

Hotel is excellently located just next to Shinagawa station which you can reach by Narita Express by 80min or if you go to Osaka by Shinkansen (bullet train) Rooms are large and modern and well equiped. Small gym, Continental breakfast offers good selection of warm and cold items.

We had a lead-in room with no breakfast. Perfectly located and 100m from Shinagawa Stn. DO note you have to walk into the buiding and then go down a long hallway to the lifts to get to reception. Room was spot on and we got some amazing photos of Tokyo city from our room. Bed was fabulous and the space...

After a few days in Kyoto, we moved across to Tokyo to see some of the sights and a day in Disney for the little one. Service from the start was what has come to be expected in Japan, with the exception being at breakfast time in the Dining Room, which, given the fact it's a buffet, was slow in...

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location, literally on top of Shinagawa station, so easy to get to on the Narita Express and easy to get around town. The hotel staff are wonderful and helpful. Stayed at The Strings due to its proximity to Shinagawa JR Station, as we were arriving into Tokyo via Shinkansen. The hotel is accessible via covered walkway from the train station, via the Konan exit (a few minutes' walk). The hotel lobby is situated on Level 26 of the building, with guest rooms situated above. There is a huge atrium,...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
