The breakfast provided is simple but fresh and delicious. We stayed in 3 hotels in our entire trip but Comfort hotel is the best among all!
The location is within the 6 train stations which is really very convenient.
Check-in and out is very smooth and fast.
The room was not big but very clean and housekeeping is very diligent.
7-11 convenience store and Coco Ichibanya just in the hotel's ground floor (outside).
We will come back again on our next trip to Comfort hotel.
Breakfast very good variety of food
Excellent staff in the deal,
I would return without hesitation
The rooms are naturally small, we are in Japan but clean and comfortable.
The breakfast room is undersized for the number of occupants, it is the only downside, it feels like being in the canteen.
But the comfort library had smaller windows and more desks, which felt a little cramped.
times, I thought I would give this hotel a try. The rooms are about
the same as is the breakfast and other amenities. The location,
however, is the discriminating factor.
First of all the directions given on the Choice Hotels website are
WRONG, or at least not optimum. From the JR Barukocho station one
should take the West exit, not the East exit as recommended by the
hotel website, especially with baggage. At the West end of the
platform there is an elevator from the platform to the B2 level
(platform is B5!) whereas at the East exit there are stairs up to B3,
then an escalator to B2. In either case you must walk up one very
long flight of stairs to the street at Exit 4 no matter which end you
exit but the elevator saves an additional staircase if you use the
West exit. I used the East exit and was all out of breath by the
time I reached the front desk. By contrast, the Comfort Hotel
Kiyosumi-Shirakawa is directly adjacent to the subway where there are
escalators from the platform to the street. So if you are carrying
baggage, the Higashi Nihonbashi location is less convenient.
And speaking of location, this hotel is in a dreary commercial area
with wholesale and retail clothing shops and convenience stores
whereas the KS location is in a more residential area with a
supermarket and pharmacy nearby as well as a lovely garden. But if
you want to stay on the west side of the Sumida River, you may prefer
this location. I don't.
Notwithstanding the disadvantages of the steps, there are two subway
lines and the JR within easy reach from the hotel. There is one JR
Sobu Rapid Service train per hour that goes all the way from
Barukocho to Narita Airport without changing trains. Takes about 90
minutes and costs 1280 yen.
The advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the Bakarurocho Metro Station. Use West Exit to elevator (on B5, takes you to B2), then walk two flights of stairs, turn left for hotel, next to7-11. While this part of the city seems a safe area, do be careful at night, the area looks deserted.
First visit to Tokyo/Japan and this was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Double bed was a good size, however with two large suitcases; there was not much room to maneuver. My husband adjusted to the small room size quicker than I, but we did fine.
Positives:
The room is well appointed with: wireless/wired internet, fridge (microwave on reception floor), AC, hot water kettle, hand tissues, robes, and hairdryer.
Bathroom is small, clean and efficient-- tub with shower, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, razor, reserve TP, 4 towels, ceiling fan, and privacy door.
This hotel has a great breakfast buffet for guests (costs included with room) that was constantly refreshed/refilled. Juice, tea, milk and coffee; plenty of Japanese and Western options—Belgian waffles, croissants, and bread you can toast, sausages, (very runny) scrambled eggs or boiled eggs, potatoes wedges, soups (clam chowder, tomato and Miso), cereals, shredded cabbage, fruit, and either a macaroni salad or potato salad (I loved the mac salad).
The staff was friendly and sharp, very attentive and helpful. They request that you leave your card key when you go out before 10:30 AM or so, and the cleaning staff will come in. One surprise was that only one room card key was issued per room at check, and returned at check-out.
If we return to Tokyo, I may look around for larger room (just my American preference), but I would definitely stay here again (breakfast was the highlight), and the room rate with a CHOICE membership card/AAA rate was unbeatable for Tokyo.
The only reason I do not award 5 stars is the room size.
"They have only two sizes of rooms. The slightly larger one is only a bit more in price, well worth it even for one person."Read full review
