This was a great hotel conveniently located withing walking distance of Akihabara station, local restaurants and shopping. While the rooms are small they are everything you need for your stay and were really lovely. The service was fantastic /the staff were helpful. I would recommend you choose a 'non- smoking' room if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke smell however....

I had a single room (927) on the left hand side of the hotel. You can still hear trains passing multiple times an hour but not too loud. Comfortable bed and pillow (choice of two). Well equipped room but small, as mentioned in other reviews. Large supermarket (Olympic) within a few minutes walk: turn right out of hotel, first right...

It was only a one-night-stay, but I reserved a renovated room on the women-only floor. Not a large room but it was clean and tidy. I love the sliding door of the bathroom, which I experienced for the first time.

A small hotel at chiyoda with train and metro stations nearby. Good for shoppers if you are just looking for a simple place with affordable price in tokyo. It is a few minutes walk from akihabara and kanto where many eating places await you. A small supermarket is nearby too. Will return if back to tokyo.

My frenz and me stayed in this hotel during our trip to Tokyo during April. The hotel is very convenient as its location is very near Ochanomizu Station. You just have to walk down the slope from Ochanomizu station and its only about a 5min walk. The slope is quite steep though so maybe it's gonna be a hassle when...

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights at the beginning of our first-ever visit to Japan. Lots of positives: the staff were lovely and very helpful: the room was very clean and in perfect decorative state with a comfy pair of beds: a well appointed bathroom, if a little small: air-con quiet and efficient: buffet restaurant excellent (we...

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Staff at the hotel was quite friendly, hotel is located just two stops from Tokyo station, so it is perfectly situated for business travelers. Surrounding area is also nice, there are many restaurants and bars nearby. Only minus is size of the room and sound insulation.

I chose this hotel for the location and reasonable price at first. The front desk clerk noticed that I traveled with my sister. She suggested the lady's floor room, which only female guest can access the floor with special card and allows to enter the door to access the floor. We decided to stay the room on the lady's-only-floor. The...

I haven't stayed at many hotels in Tokyo, usually I'm housed at an Institute. So this was different. This hotel underwent a renovation spring 2009, make sure you get the correct website (http://www.juraku.com/ocha/english1/index.html). Walking distance to the Imperial Palace area, electric city; Ochanomizu station and others within a few blocks get to you almost any train/subway line easily. So, the...

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.

“As the single rooms are on the smaller size suggest you take a double room for single use or if you are sharing take a twin room...just gives you more space. I think you also have the option of the traditional Japanese tatami room however these are much more expensive.”
