This hotel truly represents the Hokkaido spirit. It's not as stuffy as Kyoto, but the service is up there due to the friendliness and how personable everyone is. Humble staff who are approachable and absolutely divine cuisine. Don't come here expecting the traditional, quaint onsen experience, but trust that you will be satisfied, leaving with a full stomach. The quality... More

Traditional style onsen hotel. During check-in, gave me an English introduction of the hotel which was good. The interior looks recently re-furnished, especially the buffet breakfast place which looks extremely nice. Dinner consisted of local ingredients mostly from Tokachi area which was fresh and good and must not miss. Large onsen area and large rooms, free wifi. Remember to visit... More

With the experience of the last resort, I didn't expect much of this hotel. But it proved me wrong. The hotel is well maintained and the room is spacious and clean. Although we had a river facing Japanese style room, I did not feel it is old. The onsen facility is alright with outdoor one. The parking is spacious. We... More

This is an intimate establishment although it is sizable. Quality of onsen water at Tokachigawa is very good and your skin feels replenished after soaking. Room quality is good and river view is always recommended. There is however not much around the hotel in terms of sightseeing but if you drive things are not that far away.

This hotel is located at the quiet part of Otofuke-cho. The rooms are comfortable with tatami and the bathroom is very clean and new looking. We stayed 2 nights and had buffet dinner and breakfast together with our accommodations. The food served was not especially special, though they are fresh and of much local products. The onsen standard there is... More

Hotel is located with a small and quiet town with a view of the river. There's no snowscape in summer but I can imagine how beautiful it'll look in winter. We splurged on a bigger room with dinner in the room. Food were well prepared and delicious. Waitstaff does not speak any English but provided good service. I'm usually not... More

Stayed in the hotel for 1 night in May. I do not usually like to sleep on tatami, however it was unimaginably comfortable at Kangetsuen. The hotel was very attentive to guests'comfort and provided bands to hold the sleeves of yukata during meals.Though the buffet spread was not exactly of wide variety, the food was very fresh specially the breakfast... Stayed here on 18-20 Feb 2015 (Chinese new year) at their suite,明月, on half board. Cost about SGD $600 plus for 2 per nights from Booking.com Hotel is situated about half hour from Obihiro city centre. Obihiro is the capital city of Tokachi province, about 2.5hrs from sapporo and 1.5 hrs from Kushiro. If you are flying to Obihiro airport,... More

Certainly the best hotel I stayed in Hokkaido during my 5 days trip. What makes me recommend a hotel, especially in Hokkaido wintry months are as follow: 1) Great sleep quality (comfy futons + general quietness of hotel) 2) Great onsen (especially for that pre-dinner, post dinner and pre breakfast onsen session) 3) Great breakfast or dinner (wide range of...
