In Arucas, near to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, you will find an authentic Paradise, La Hacienda del Buen Suceso, situated within a luxury and rural atmosphere where you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself. The rural hotel maintains the splendor of a big country estate from long ago, situated in the heart of a large banana plantation of 500.000m2. It preserves all the colonial architecture of a period full of history, when time passed by at a slower pace. The country estate on which La Hacienda is located is the oldest one on the Canary Islands (1572), being the ideal surroundings to enjoy the wonderful climate on one of our garden surrounded terraces, or by our swimming pool overlooking the sea of banana trees. Enjoy these unique views savoring an aperitif or even in the wintertime warming yourself by the chimney in the noble Tres Palmas Lounge. At the La Hacienda del Buen Suceso you will enjoy all the comfort and service without losing the Colonial atmosphere.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at La Hacienda. It is well located for Arucas, Las Palmas and routes into the interior aside from being a beautiful and atmospheric hotel. Our small suite was comfortable and gave us the space we needed for our 3 night stay though for longer stays with more than the one suitcase we had, I would say that occupants would regard it as somewhat cramped for a suite, though the additional 'downstairs' space might provide a useful extension of the room proper. Wifi was fast and stable which was not always the case with the hot water which, in the morning at least, took quite some time to run significantly hot. The detailing in the bathroom was a little tired and the varnished wooden steps you needed to climb to enter the large bath felt like a bit of a hazard when combined, inevitably, with water. The lack of a sink plug is not something I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. The bed was very cosy and comfortable. A stronger light in the main room would have made it easier to read at night time. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to avail ourselves of the swimming pool, garden and jacuzzi all of which looked very temping and well-maintained. Breakfast was a highlight. The selection was extensive and featured local Canarian specialities (such as Teror Chorizo and gofio banana juice) and some variants straight from the kitchen. My partner said the tortilla was one of the best she had ever had!. By contrast, dinner was passable but not of a quality commensurate with the standard generally of the hotel. At first glance, the menu looks to be of a good standard, featuring local cuisine but some of the mains (eg the gambas) turn out to be, in effect, tapas and therefore fall short of what you would reasonably expect at this stage of a dinner. The grilled canarian cheese starter was just a plate of molten cheese which was a very odd dish indeed. We felt dinner at the Hacienda was a reasonable choice if you had had a long day, were keen to get to bed and couldn't afford the time to drive into Arucas or LP but otherwise needed an overhaul not to risk disappointing those who might expect a higher general standard. Finally, parking is plentiful and if using a Sat Nav, enter Jardin de la Marquesa if, like us, you find the location hard to track down. All in all, this was a great choice for us and hope to return one day.

This is a lovely hotel set in a banana plantation. The rooms are comfortable and the continental breakfast is good. Evening meals are unfortunately only a 3 course fixed price option with 3 choices of each course - generally appeared to be 2 soups and a salad for starters, pasta or rice mains and ice cream or yoghurt desserts. It is a pity as Arucas does not have a big choice of evening eating establishments and the restaurant setting at the Hacienda is lovely. I am sure that a bigger choice of local dishes would attract others to visit. All the staff are very friendly and attentive.

The location was nice - in a banana plantation - a good place to stay when exploring the island. Accommodation was good for the price as was breakfast. I found the staff were disinterested and the restaurant very poor.

We'd booked this for one night, but when we got there, we immediately booked in for a second night. Great hacienda, historic building, with quirky rooms, an slightly outdated bathroom. Our room had a lovely view over the banana plantation to the sea; although a little dark, it also helps to keep the room cool when hot. Outside was a lovely covered verandah with day beds to relax, some used books to borrow or swap, and plentiful bananas. It's pretty isolated, so no nearby restaurants etc., so if you need to go anywhere nearby, it's a car ride. They don't serve lunch, which is a bit of a shame as it means you have to leave the hotel to drive to get something to eat!! Also, there's no bar / snacks during the day, so all a bit bleak once breakfast is done. The dinners are quite nice, although the second evening the fish was still frozen, so a little disappointing. Also they ran out of tonic water and candles, so when the bar did open, no gin and tonics, and no candles at dinner. Breakfast buffet is pretty standard, but cooked eggs were completely ruined and overdone, plus a dodgy coffee machine, but all in all not too bad. The pool was very nice, although we seemed to be the only people using it, and there's a jacuzzi in one of the end buildings which you have to book. I'd recommend for one evening rather than two, because there are no facilities during the day, but I wouldn't have experienced that unless we had stayed for 2 nights. We had a leak in our ceiling from the room above and they put a wine bucket down to collect the water. Staff are nice, but I felt more could be done to improve the guest experience.

Sensational hotel, the sort of place you would go out of your way to stay in. Quirky, very well run, high quality breakfast, great vibe, nice decor. There's a slight abandoned feeling when you arrive, but behind the scenes everything is in place. And surrounded by approximately (I did a back of the envelope calculation) 300 million bananas.

I don't think you will find a more authentic hotel in the Canary islands, but our junior suite did have drawback. We visited in early May and the pool was a great place to lie and listen to the silence and the odd banana picking lorry, dogs howling in the distance and the true sound of Gran Canaria. Remember the north can be cloudier and cooler than the south if you are looking for a sunbathing holiday. We had a hire car which we found essential, but there is a bus stop outside the hotel entrance. I wouldn't want to walk into town as there is no path and steep, but it isn't far. If driving into Las Palmas parking is not easy nor cheap. The Arehucas rum tour is highly recommended, and the hotel left a complementary miniature for us a nice touch. There is a small mini fridge. No kettle though, and whilst reception sells cold drinks there is no bar service until 1830 and no way to buy a hot drink until then. The bed was excellent, but the pillow and cushion provided were not really up to the job. No airconditioning. We only had the sheets changed once due to no housekeeping on Mon and Fri. Take some flyspray, if you get a bug in your room it is difficult to get them and the ceiling is 20 foot away in the suites. The bathroom was dated, the bath and shower would have been very difficult to access if you were anything other than able bodied. The toilet flush stuck, there was no plug for the sink which had a big crack in it, and lots of dust near the extractor fan. Cracked tiles in the bath. We had a fair few cobwebs in the room and ancient dust, and the bulbs didn't match up anywhere in the hotel including our room, a mix of colours and types. It wouldn't take very long to go in and hoover up the cobwebs and sort the bulbs throughout the hotel just would make things look more cared about. Also the shower temperature fluctuated a lot if another room used the taps. New sun loungers arrived on the day we left, the wooden old ones were not looking their best. The staff were lovely, breakfast good. Evening meal was 22 euros, 3 courses and Canarian "hearty", and never left me hungry. Not much was open in the local area in early May.

I loved staying here, simple as that. This a real working hacienda located in the middle of a banana plantation. It’s gorgeous, and even more so because it still functions as a plantation. My room was very comfortable with a well appointed bathroom and very comfortable bed. I found everything about the hacienda enchanting - its peaceful location, the lovely views across the banana palms down to the coat, the views up to Arucas, the birds chirping, the odd farm vehicle harvesting large bunches of bananas and the colour of the sky against the oche coloured hacienda.  This is not a fancy hotel, it’s not polished and perfect. But it doesn’t matter; I loved its rustic granduer, I loved its honesty and not having had its character knocked out if it by unsympathetic refurbishment.  The WiFi was excellent apart from not being able to auto join every time I left and came back. TV was great if you were a Spanish speaker, not so great if you are not. My TV was Netflix enabled but I couldn’t find other apps like Prime.  All the staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was very good and served in the atmospheric converted stables. If not exceptional, there was a good selection that would suit most tastes. I enjoyed dinner in the restaurant too and found the food tasty and very reasonable. My only criticism is some details need to be kept on top of. For example I found all of the exterior furniture quite old and in some cases well past their prime, particularly the pool loungers.

We stayed here 2 nights at end of Jan 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has been restored and has maintained the look and feel of an older age but with all modern facilities and comfort. We were knocked out by the beautiful buildings, landscaping and views. To top it all the staff team are excellent and deserve a special mention. Location just outside the town of Arucas which was good to explore especially in the evenings when the pedestrian streets come alive. Also close to coast, Las Palmas and exploring the roads to Teror etc. We have definitely marked this for a future visit. Well done to all involved.
