Food was a 10/10 but sadly when the chef came over to talk he was quite rude and misogynistic Overall great experience staff were lovely but just that one encounter with the chef was a bit upsetting for me and my kids.

Good first experiences. Staff friendly. We were lead to room and allowed to check in early. The room was nice and clean with an en suite. We had a table booked for an evening meal in the bar so spent the evening down there. We had cullen skink and mozzarella sticks for starters, salmon/prawn linguine and steak for mains. All lovely. The problem as we discovered was the noise in the bar. Somebody started using Alexa to play music over the bar's stereo. We went to our room at about 9:30 to watch some TV. Struggled to hear the telly due to the music and chatter in the bar (the room was right above). The telly went off at 11:30 so now nothing to hide the noise which was horrendous. Music, shouting, singing. At some points the music was cranked up even further. Shang-a-Lang and Walking on Sunshine were obviously particular favourites. Eventually after a Robbie Williams sing-a-long the guests left the pub at 01:15 am. We mentioned this to the lass at breakfast time. She was apologetic and seemed to think any noise should have ceased at 11. Perhaps this is just an occasional problem but unfortunately it happened when we stayed.

Stayed for two nights recently in one of the superior rooms. Well worth it. The room was extremely comfortable and a nice place to just sit and relax. I wasn’t over enthused with the evening meal but the breakfast more than made up for it. It was superb and had the added bonus of being accompanied by the most gorgeous Border Terrier you’ve ever seen. The bar is dog friendly and the staff are even friendlier if that makes sense. The two Yetholms are lovely villages and make an ideal base to not only explore the border area but Northumberland too.

You know your in a proper pub when you see rolls wrapped in cling film on the bar! A lovely warm welcome even for a southerner like me, a nice family atmosphere and a real warm place to relax and feel comfortable. Well recommended to anyone passing by!👍

Disappointed at not being able to travel to France over Easter because of Covid we decide that we would have a Wedding Anniversary treat instead. We both love the Scottish Borders and decided on The Plough in Town Yetholm as the venue for our anniversary, and we couldn't have made a better decision. From the minute I made contact with Sandi at The Plough until we left after three fantastic days we were treated like friends. It's a pub with no pretensions: the Plough is exactly what it says it is "a traditional country inn with accommodation and good food". I can truthfully say that it was one of the best stays we have ever had in a pub or hotel. All of the staff were wonderfully friendly, helpful and just great people. Lyndsay and her team are to be congratulated on the service they provider to customers. It's always a good sign to see locals supporting their pub and the Plough is well supported. Our room was excellent; it was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed, and very important for us it's pet friendly even down to providing dog treats. It doesn't have an extensive menu which usually means home made and freshly prepared, and it was. We chose to eat each night at the Plough and weren't disappointed with our decision; actually we'd made the right decision. The food is excellent, well prepared and presented and the Cullen Skink is to die for! It's outstanding and so too is the fish (haddock) and chips, actually all of the meals we had were excellent but those two meals are the Plough's flagships, or should be. Breakfasts were very good as well - plenty of choice. We'd invited seven of our friends from Kelso to join us for a meal on our last evening and had a truly memorable evening together. We were royally looked after and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. To reiterate, the Plough is a great country pub with good food and accommodation situated at the foot of the Cheviots in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

We have had 3 meals here in 5 days and found the quality to be excellent. The hot smoked salmon is probably the star. Getting a meal later in the evening issue challenging so staffing is a bit of a problem, but if you do get a meal it is great. Staff are lovely and try to p!ease.

Had the most wonderful tasty meal tonight at The Plough, all nine of the family members enjoyed the varied menu. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Dining area well dressed and cosy. Would definitely recommend a meal there.

This was a (very) belated birthday present for my husband. It was postponed for over a year due to Covid lockdown last year. It was worth the wait. We had a lovely room overlooking the main road but, as it’s a quiet village, that was no problem. We were using an Itison voucher which was great value. Our evening meal was HUGE! Two courses but we both felt full after the starter. In fact it was so large, neither of us could manage a cooked breakfast the following day, which was a disappointment because we do like a full breakfast. We would certainly recommend the hotel with or without a voucher. Staff we met were all great, especially the barmaid Ania (I think) who was a really hard worker

The bedrooms were beautifully and tastefully decorated. The food was very well prepared and well presented. The staff were amazing - Jane and Sandi should be on the telly, they were so entertaining. The local people who use the hotel as their pub were friendly and made us feel like their friends. We were travelling with a dog and the dog was made very welcome as well. All in all a wonderful experience. We would recommend this hotel without reservation
