Our stay in bamboo Forest was the most incredible, most memorable safari experience that we have had in India to date. Our stay was exceptional - the property is lovely, our villa was super spacious and beautiful and the food is great .The use of a pool in this heat was a treat and we used their spa, which was great too. It was my husbands birthday and they even organised the most amazing cake cutting near the lake, surrounded by candles. But none of this compares to the sightings we had - all because of our amazing naturalists Venkatesh and Akshay. We saw 9 TIGERS and 2 LEOPARDS in our 5 safaris, and the sightings were up close and absolutely incredible. This is THE BEST part about bamboo forest - it’s the people you meet there and the experiences they give you, which are unforgettable. We absolutely cannot wait to go back!

🎋♨️✈️ 🛳🌈 The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge- Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge - A movie set in wilderness “Nirbano badhyate vyaaghro nirvyaaghro chidyate vanam, Tasmaadvyaaghro vanam rakshet vanam vyaaghram na paalayet.” It is the tiger that protects the forest and not that the forest sustains the tiger. “A tiger does not shout its tigritude. It acts.”~ Wole Soyinka. The moment our Indigo aircraft touched down on the tarmac of the Orange City, a sort of thrill enveloped us. The Chauffeur from The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge was waiting for us with our name placard. We were comfortably seated in a sanitised and mint conditioned spotlessly clean Innova car with a passenger seat partition for safety measures. The drive of approximately two hours was smooth and comfortable thanks to Toyota. The scenery along the way was predominantly rustic and pastoral. Once we crossed a hamlet of sorts, we reached our destination. Mr Akshay, a naturalist and overall in charge of the property, was there to welcome us with warmth and congeniality. The moment we stepped inside the gate, we were offered warm hand towels and a delicious cool glass of lemonade. Walking underneath a canopy of trees and a labyrinth of tall bamboos flanked by various stone figurine fountains and tiered pagoda shaped Indonesian sidelights, we stepped into the reception. The reception ostensibly boasted of a massive antique wooden tiger in the centre. The feeling was akin to walking through The Tree House resort (Jaipur) into its backyard of The Bamboo Safari Forest Lodge overlooking Lake Maasal. While the formality of checking was being carried out, we were comfortably seated in the beautiful library lined with various books as well as coffee table books pertaining to flora and fauna. Several wildlife pictures and artefacts decorated the library. Mr Akshay gave us a brief orientation about the Tiger Reserve, The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge, and our itinerary for the next two days. The antiquated tiger-skin rug occupied most of the wall's background, and the Les Fauves occupied all of the foregrounds of the conversation. The anticipation and the thrill of what lay ahead both in terms of the property and the tiger reserve was an adrenaline rush in itself. We were escorted through a bamboo fringed meandering path to our Bungalow, IBIS, named after a forest bird. The moment we stepped into the bungalow, we had a feeling of walking into the movie set of, ‘Out of Africa’, I could almost visualise Meryl Streep and Robert Redford sitting on the patio and indulging in an interesting conversation whilst gazing at the sunset. The reclining traditional Charpoy , the bamboo barricaded boundary of the patio, overlooking the Maasal lake further away, was almost akin to the ‘Hatari’ movie scene. The theme score almost automatically played in the memory card's background, and you could picturise a sardonic John Wayne amusedly watching Elsa Martinelli. The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge is a premium world-class nature resort in the lap of wilderness with panoramic visuals of flora and fauna. It boasts of eco-credentials as its maxim, and its ethos is respecting and being one with nature. The lodge is a taste of haven for the avid and discerning Gaia admirer or biome traveller. The lodge is a 10-minute drive from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. It’s majestic in all its splendour and luxury of villas, chalets and two bungalows. The Villas have a terrace and private garden with a view of the nearby lake, and an open-air bath. Chalet has four interconnected rooms for families or friends or can be individually reserved too. The Bungalows are a different story altogether. It speaks of two identical bedrooms with a closet area and a massive bath and shower space, a beautiful lounge opening up to a patio and a wrought iron winding staircase leading up to a gazebo. The sweeping view from the gazebo is spectacular. The property's interior is all about stripes and spots, from four-poster beds to upholstery and rugs to Indonesian, Kutch, and Bastar traditionally styled wooden furniture and colourful murals and artefacts. A perfect blend of traditional with the contemporary. Equipped with modern comforts as air conditioning, heating, satellite TV and WiFi. Facilities: There is a restaurant, a dining hall, a library, handicrafts and artworks souvenir shop, a neat gym, a spa , Taruveda, offering a variety of treatments. There is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool too. Dining: Delectable and delicious gastronomical gourmet cuisine is curated customised chef’s culinary creations catering to the guests. Serves National and International surprises. The hospitality and kitchen in-charge Ms Ramya is a perfect hostess blessed with an endearing disposition. Machan, the lodge’s restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner. (all-inclusive in the package). An Alfresco dining is available by the lake, and there's a rooftop gazebo for special occasions. The dining area presents a sweeping, swooping spectacular view of the lake and cotton fields. You can easily spot a weaver bird, coucals, kingfishers, cormorants, egrets— swooping in and out of the water. Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge does not serve alcoholic drinks, as Chandrapur is designated a ‘dry district’ by the state government of Maharashtra. Before our morning Safari,🐾 We had an interactive video presentation by the naturalist and guide, Mr Sandesh. They apprised us about the Reserve, the zones and core areas and about the wildlife we might spot. The inhabitants' habits such as the melanistic leopard called blackie, sloth bear, sambar deer, guar (Indian bison), leopard and Indian wild dog, crocodile and peacock along with the winged creatures making for exciting wildlife sightings. He peppered the information with anecdotes and details. Agastya, Ramaya and Akshay’s son, was a powerhouse of knowledge about the wildlife. He is an example that children can learn much more in the lap or school of nature. Thank you for giving us memories that shall remain cocooned and cherished and a pleasant pleasure every time we will revisit the lane of anecdotes.

Bamboo Forest Lodge is highly highly recommended. We just spent three nights with them and it was a real treat. The premises are very nice and quaint. The best part of the Lodge are the people who run the place. Never said NO for anything at all. The manager and his wife make a great team. The naturalists we're really nice and very knowledgeable. Haresh was outstanding 👍🏽 We will certainly come back soon and send our friends and families.
