Forty years ago Claudia and Tonino Verro established this restaurant and tiny inn in the heart of Barbaresco country, featuring the typical dishes and wines of the region. And when I say "region" I mean the locality. This last time I asked for a wine from the Langhe region (Timarosso) and was told that while we were, indeed, in the...

We had an excellent lunch here. The food, the wine and the service was fantastic. It's a pity it is closing down soon, because the quality of the food against the price it's hard to beat. I would go back anytime.

2nd visit. The chef has been there forever. She is an excellent chef and very pleasant. The dinner was one of the best Italian meals we've eaten. (Next comments may not be representative in general but were true for our visit. It is possible we had an off day or the family was gone on an emergency). There is virtually...

Let's put it this way: if you are used at staying at 4 or 5 star international hotels then this place will come as a bit of a shock. Likewise if you normally enjoy hotels with amenities and extra services. If, on the other hand, you are interested in paying a very reasonable price to stay in a lovely little...

We stayed for 3 nights on a half board basis and it was wonderful. Breakfast was simple and basic, but dinner amazing. The 1st night we tried the 7 course 'Claudia' set menu, but had to give up on the 6th course! We watched other diners being served and thought,'thank god it's not us'. The basic breakfast was a blessing....

I was lucky enough to be taken, together with a guest, to this wonderful restaurant by the public relations manager of a major Itaian Co for whom I was the UK Country Manager. This was in 1995 and today, 18 years later, I can still remember every detail. The food was simply superb from beginning to end, a 3+ hour...

Once again a spotless fantastic journey at the gastronomic alley, service, culture, area and over all picture. This is a place that can not be described..... You just have to taste it, be there and...

Our room was situated in a building a few steps away from the Contea restaurant. We also ate at the restaurant and tasted wine in the Enoteca. Everybody was very friendly. Rooms are nicely furnished and very neat. The food and the wine were excellent. We can only recommend this place, in the center of the historical center of Neive

We stayed here for 3 nights in 09/12 and were amazed. First: the owners are super nice. Second: the house made barbarescos are as good or better than the famous barbarescos of the region and much less expensive. Third: the food is amazing. The hotel is a very old building and it appears that the owners have renovated the kitchen...

I am very well travelled, usually staying at major chain hotels (Hilton, Starwood, IHC, Hyatt, Marriott etc.). I must say that La Contea was a refreshing change. The village itself is really charming, giving an idea of old Italian values and culture. My room was comfortable, clean and well furnished. I could imagine, ancient Italian nobles being happy in the...
