To get out of Rome for the weekend, I took the two-hour trip to Isernia. The BB was a good choice. (Hint, the reception desk is a couple doors down, at number 177.) The room was large and clean, as was the bathroom. Street noise is minimized with double pane windows to the street. (When I stayed, the bar below...

Isernia gets a bad press for some reason: we found it attractive, friendly, and the little alimentari/deli off the main square is superb for local cheese (Molise being a mozzarella-producing region). Antica Dimora 191, in a beautiful palazzo facing Piazza XX Settembre, gets a lot right: the dark 'Baroque' decor is atmospheric, and the suite was comfortable and very clean....

The rooms are large and decorated in an antique style with views of the Main Street in the old town. Breakfast are on local cafes close by which serve perfect coffee and croissants. The old town is beautiful and on Saturdays there is a large market.

Antica Dimora provided my daughter and I with a lovely room, located in the heart of the Centro Storico. Not only was the room (with independent sitting room) nicely decorated in Baroque style, but the views from our balcony were fantastic as well. The proprietors were responsive and super helpful, even going so far as to pick us up from...

This is a charming little B&B in a historic part of Isernia, Italy. The decor was charming in the old Baroc style. Our room overlooked the plaza and I enjoyed watching the people stroll by each day. The place is a bit hard to find and we drove around the town a bit. Once we found it, we had to...

This was a really special find for us when we needed to visit Isernia twice as my wife's mother was in hospital there. The host, Domenico, could not have been more helpful. He not only sorted out the ideal accomodation for us, but also picked my wife and daughter up from the station and provided a lift to the airport when...

We recently spent five nights in a beautiful suite at Antica Dimora 191. Domenico, the owner and host, could not have been nicer and more accommodating. The location of the unit we had was in a perfect location for us. The unit was clean and very comfortable. Domenico also gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and his sometime assistant was...

We travelled to Isernia to see the place where my wife's grandfather lived and grew up. A wonderful area for sightseeing, and a very "hip" little city these days. This "hotel" was beautiful, and perhaps the most fun was working with the proprietor the "google translate" (he speaks no English). I'd go back to this town and this hotel anytime!

Isernia is a lovely town off the beaten path and this small hotel is its jewel. The rooms feel like you are in a 15th century castle, but with all the modern conveniences. The owner has restored this building as well as several others in the old, historic part of town. Very welcoming and comfortable and within walking distance of...

“Ask for a quiet room.”

“Just a note: the area surrounding the hotel is transformed into a huge open air market on Fridays and Saturdays from 0700 until 1300. The atmosphere is wonderful, but vehicles must be parked in another location nearby. Further, the management does not speak fluent English, but are very helpful with the help of online translation tools.”
