Had a really great time here. Johns really helpful showing you around and if you have any questions about where to eat, what beaches to go to, and where all the surf breaks are. The rooms and beds are nice with full kitchen and bathrooms. The house is centrally located in the town so getting everywhere is really easy and...

I staid there for a week, and had a very nice stay thanks to Johnny's advices. He knows well about the best place to eat,( good and cheap ) and will help you to find the best places to surf or to visit in the area. Moreover, the hostel is really cosy and really chill, and very clean. You'll be...

We stayed here 3 nights, to relax after some crowded days in Lima. We had a comfortable private room and bathroom. John, the owner, was friendly and showed us around on our first day. The hostel is a 5' walk away from the beach, where there are great waves to surf. We totally enjoyed our stay in Punta Hermosa. Greets...

We initially booked 4 nights at Hostal Merlin, but extended our stay by a couple nights as there were more quality waves to discover nearby. We had a great time at Juan's (Johnny) who makes you feel like home in no time. There's everything you need in the house and the surroundings, and you'll get great tips and stories from...

I'm an older surfer from Hawaii and I came to Hostel Merlin because it's located in Punta Hermosa-famous for its high density of great waves. I was very pleased with Hostel Merlin. It is not a fancy place, but the rooms are nice, it's quiet at night, and the beds comfortable. I had a room to myself, but I think...

Arrived and were made to feel welcome. Gave us a tour of the town. Showed us good surf spots, market and restaurants etc. Very friendly man. The hostel was more of a home. Very comfortable and let us use the kitchen. Definitely the best place to stay in punta hermosa

Stayed in Hostal Merlin for two nights in september after backpacking in Peru and Bolivia. A great place for surfing and Juan gave us a tour showing us shops, restaurants, surf shops where we could hire boards and took us along the beaches to see the best spots for waves. The house was clean, comfortable, a kitchen to make breakfast...

Juan, the owner, gave me a tour of the town and the surf spots , and he was helpful whenever I needed anything (directions, tips for restaurants, etc). The room and common area are very comfortable, and I had great privacy. The cable and wifi work fine....

I was greeted late into the night, which is always helpful coming off a long trip to a new town you know nothing about. Juan was thoroughly helpful and his hostal was very laid back, comfortable, and easy to get along with. The next day we walked around the beach town, and he gave me a tour of the the...

A friend had stayed at this quaint beach home previous to my stay and raved about the price, amenities, and strong wifi. I met Juan and instantly felt at home with the classic rock on the stereo and beach memorabilia on the walls. He offered advice and directions and made sure we had clean towels daily. The place is fully...

“wifi was great compared to most of the places we stayed in Peru.”

“There is a room with a small shower and bathroom it was okay, the shower was a bit slow but it did the job. There is a bathroom with a shower in the hall way (it might have better pressure, didnt check) but no matter what room you choose it will be fine.”

“I would choose a room with a bathroom, but that is always my preference. If you get the room without the bathroom, the shared bathroom is just in the hall.”

“We booked the "Suite matrimonial", so I cannot comment on the other rooms. When we first entered it seemed a little small, since the room is almost completely occupied by the large bed, but as written above, in the end we barely left it at all. There is a large beach painting on the wall, and together with the high roof and its bambus beams you get the impression of a tropical hut, very nice. The high roof has an additional advantage: during the summer it can be very hot in Punta Hermosa, but due to the architecture you don´t notice it in the room. For example, on saturday we rose at about 11 a.m., when the sun outside was already blazing, but inside the air was fresh and pleasant.”
