In spite of the cooler weather in late November / early December, we chose this time of year to visit family members in Germany and enjoy with them the Christmas markets in Bonn (where they live) and Freiburg, and included a driving tour through the Black Forest region. The Gasthof Zur Alten Bruecke in Schiltach was certainly the best stop...

This is a very comforting place to stay. Michael who runs it is a wonderful host and the location is great. The river terrace was being re-built due to flooding and no doubt will be an amazing feature in the summer of 2017 but we sadly missed out. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. We were able to park right outside...

We had planned to experience staying in a small town/ village in Germany just to stay away from the madness of the whirlwind Europe trip of ours. After a lot of thought and extensive studies on TripAdvisor we zeroed in to this little paradise. And in this quaint village we chose this little gem. I have experienced staying in a...

Our room was on the large side (#5), bathroom had a decent size as well, all clean and well kept, the Hotel served a good breakfast and the owner was super friendly. There are free car parking spaces close by and the village needs to be seen to believed - a jewel!

We really loved our stay here. Michael was a wonderful host and as there were three of us travelling the apartment was perfect for us. Quite spacious and had everything you needed. The breakfast was really good as Michael cooked us bacon and scrambled eggs to order, as well as lots of other foods to eat. Also, free parking was...

Michael was such a wonderful host! We felt at home right away when Michael welcomed us with hugs. We stayed 3 nights, and found this to be a good base for exploring the Black Forest--it's a big area, but Schiltach was well positioned since there were areas both north and south that we wanted to explore. Schiltach itself was beautiful,...

Michael and Lisa are wonderful hosts, we are travelling in Europe for 6 weeks and Michael serves the best breakfast we have had, the fruit is amazing! Our room was great, we paid...

We stayed here for one night during a lovely stretch of weather in late May. The greeting was warm with Michael coming out from making lunch in the kitchen, shaking hands, giving hugs and welcoming us to his house. The Alten Brucke is in a lovely old building. Our room was on the top floor with a nice terrace that...

We arrived to warm hugs and a comfortability that reminds you of home. Michael continued to mention to treat his place as our own. Upon arrival, he prepared us a dinner even though they were soon to close. The food was delicious, and the recipes his own. The hotel is situated in front of the river, which allows for beautiful...
