We had last visited Windermere in 2010 and loved it so visited again and this time it was even better than before! All the staff from Suraj at the front desk, to Raja, Tony and the team at the dining hall to Joby (who made our parents anniversary lunch even more memorable) were just super and made the whole family feel at home!! Will definitely go back and was just very happy to see the property doing even better than before!
This is a very special hotel. It has an old world feel about it and a lot of heritage. The rooms are charming and fit the plantation and grounds very well - they would look out of place if they were ultra modern. We stayed in an estate room with a balcony which had a nice view, was very spacious and had a huge bed. The highlight really are the plantation grounds which are absolutely stunning - they have hundreds and hundreds of hectares of jungle and forest which you can explore with a guide. We saw so much wildlife and enjoyed being surrounded by nature. You can hear so many birds, frogs and insects. It’s worth staying here just for the nature alone so be sure not to miss the plantation walk they offer. They also have a nature conservation programme here and you can see the tea plantations from the pool area. In the evenings (when we stayed in April) there is a lovely mist that falls around the hotel which makes it feel very magical. The service is great and the dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Overall, a wonderful, memorable stay.…
We have to thank Kalypso Adventures for booking our stay here. The most amazing peak place, surrounded by peace, coffee and cardamom plantations. The staff has been so welcoming and of great, kind service. Our room was so spacious and with a breath taking view. The restaurant offers the most amazing food. There is a peak point were you have a view you can't describe in words.... just stunning ! Thank you everyone for making us feel at home ... and a special thank you to Joby Abraham not only for accomodating all our needs but also for your superbe cooking classes. Today I made your veg kurma and it came out wonderful. If you travel through the poetic hills of Munnar don't forget to stop here. A special thank you also to Mr. John !!! We will be back there one day ! Namaste!
First off what a location!! Well nestled in the midst of tea plantations, secluded from the mainstream tourism, this was a treat of the finest for my parents , wife and myself! Spacious rooms reminds you of the old bunglow style architecture preserved and manicured to make you feel relaxed taking in that fresh air and walking around with no reservations! Chef Jobi, I wish I could kidnap him :) Tailor made tasty dishes come piping hot served by the most humble and attentive staff at their restaurant. Walk around the property , take a trek with Hansel and enjoy the cardamom plantations around you! Banana fritters with evening tea was the damn best Ive ever had! The pool was perfection to take a dip in after that long trek and then a good pour of rum followed by dinner, takes you back down memory lane. We loved it and we hope to be back soon.…
What an hospitality. Excellent location. Excellent people, super humility. Excellent food. It flows from top - Mr John, Mr Satish, Mr Neville and everyone around is superb. This place will give you altogether different meaning to your definition of customised hospitality. The boulder in property provides a super view. The swimming pool besides the tea estate is amazing. They guide you very well. It's one of the best boutique luxury places i have travelled. Do not miss it if you are going to Munnar. It scores very high on all the hospitality standards. The plantation trip must do with Ansal, very knowledgeable guy. They provide cycles as well. Do indulge in case you love some adventure
Windermere, a beautiful property nestled in the hills of Munnar and surrounded by greenery. Fabulous warm service by one and all, to ensure max comfort for guests. Lovely spacious rooms, with a view which leaves one wanting for more. Healthy, personalized menu... the food was delicious, fresh and homely. The Chef, Mr Jobi was friendly and served us some great food, adapting to each and everyone's palate. The Cardamom & Coffee plantation tour was invigorating & a learning experience, led by a very knowledgeable guide Mr. Ansel. The owner of the property came personally to meet us on the last day. Overall a lovely experience and definitely will be worth another visit for me. One won't feel like leaving the property...Oh! And it also has a lovely clean pool surrounded by mountains.
Excellent : location, rooms, hospitality.. Family run property surrounded by tea gardens and green hills with cardamom and coffee plantations of their own inside the estate..very warm and hospitable owners, GM and the staff..always trying to accommodate the guest’s demands just like family
perfect sized estate to serve their tourist in the best way. super fun activity by Mr hansel on plantation walk of 2 hrs very knowledgeable experience. food is their very best part since they provide fix menu of kerala lunch is a very unique experience for people who re not familier with the cuisine. they also arranged a special candle light dinner for our special night. very relaxing experience.
We spent 2 nts at Windermere in the very cosy Planters room. Hospitality in every sense was stupendous. The food was absolutely fatastic with a very generous variety of Keralite fare. The beds were too comfortable and cozy. My boys were very excited to cycle and we enjoyed some delightful walks and treks, besides some down time in the cozy library above the Barn. Our guide who led us to the cardamom and coffee plantations was also wonderful. The staff overall and, of course, Sunil ensured our stay was comfortable and more... Thank you very much and we are sure to return to this pristine location which enjoys the most envious view I presume amongst most properties in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended 👌
We stayed at Windermere Estate almost ten years ago and while there we were given a bookmark which caught the mood of the estate perfectly. I have used this almost to destruction and recently contacted them to ask if they might send me another. They don’t print them anymore but hunted until they found the last two in a drawer and I received these today also with some very nice postcards. I can’t think of anywhere else that To whom I would venture to make such a request, nor that would take trouble to indulge me at such an interval. Very well done indeed!
