We stayed at Holly Hock in Jan 2015. We were directed there by our auto rickshaw driver after struggling to find accommodation having not made any bookings. The first thing that caught our eye was the view, it's absolutely stunning. The roof top restaurant in the open air is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunset over the tea fields. The rooms were ok, not amazing but clean and with hot water. Our room did had a great view with a place to sit and relax. The walls are a bit thin and we could clearly hear our neighbours conversations. One thing that I didn't like was that the bathroom window did not close meaning a bit too much wildlife entered into our room for my liking.
The manager Nitesh was friendly and helpful and let us use his phone to make sightseeing arrangements. The menu was limited but tasty. All and all I'd recommend Holly Hock for a night or two.

The view from Hollyhock restaurant is par excellence. Away from the bustling town of Munnar, Hollyhock is perfect for travellers who seek solitude and offbeat experience, but in budget.

Rooms are extremely basic and quite compact. They certainly have 24-hour hot water but you need to learn the technique. The tap is little complicated.

Loved their coffee/tea. But as far as food is concerned, there is very little choice. If you don't have your own vehicle, a rickshaw ride to town will cost you Rs 200 (return).

We were attended to by Nithesh, a soft-spoken guy, helpful guy.

I was visiting Munnar in full moon and I wanted to enjoy mesmerizing view of tea garden in day time as well as in night during moonlight. That's why I decided on this hotel. I booked it online. The hotel has mesmerizing view of tea garden and the valley. When I reached there after a long trip from Cochin I wan initially very delighted to see the hotel. But all my expectation end there only. We were pretty tired and wanted to check in as soon as possible. We cam to know that even after repeated calls my rooms were not ready. Further that they informed that there cook is on leave and they will not be able to serve any food. It is a very remote location. The nearest restaurant would be 5 KM from there. In that area no cars move after sunset. Even then they don't have backup arrangement. The most surprising part is that I were calling them for last two days, they even not bother to tell us about that.
There are almost no mobile signal availability in the area. I tried to contact the website but could not able to do so. I booked two delux room. They show me two room, the one which was almost cleaned was extremely small and shabby. It cannot be a delux room. The other one was bigger and seems to be good but yet to be cleaned. The stair to go down to the room was a spiral one and extremely narrow. If you have a older person , it would not be possible for him/her to use it. We were extremely angry and demand our money back. Then they suggested to move us in a another hotel of same owner. It was already late and we had no other choice to agree on their term. We then transfer to another hotel in a very odd place to me with limited basic arrangement. It was a very bad deal. One of the worst travel experience for me. I will not recommend this to anyone.

Rooms are average but thy are providing all basic facilities. 24hrs hot and cold water, neat and tidy floor, fresh towels and sheets. They are providing free Wifi also. Food was tasty and reasonable. Staffs are Very nice.

View from hollyhock, it's amazing. We have visited all places in Munnar. But we didn't see a view like this.

We are really enjoyed our stay in Hollyhock. Thanks.

Hi..When I was searching a budget hotel in munnar, TripAdvison helped me to find Holly Hock, I saw there was so many good and bad reviews about this hotel. That was a rush time so I booked this hotel for my 2 nights stay. But my experience is totally different. Main thing is the view from this hotel. It was really great. I visited almost all places in munnar. But I didn't find a view like this. Staffs are very helpful. Rooms are good(not luxury), neat and clean, Hot water available 24hrs. Free wifi is available. Food also good. We are really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Holly Hock.

We stayed about 4 nights in January 2015. As previous reviewers have already mentioned, Hollyhock has fabulous views of the valley and plantation below. Best seen from the rooftop dining area and certain rooms.

The manager, Nitesh, was also fabulous: he provided great advice on tours and walks and was always keen to help whenever asked. He was very efficient and had a great manner. He sorted out anything straight away. He was one of the best managers we came across in touring India. . Food was only served to guests so the menu was limited, but it was always excellent.

The road down to Munnar town made a pleasant walk. We met some lovely and interesting travellers at the hotel.

it was also a very pleasant place to escape to after the noise of the all night raves at the temples in Munnar!

The location is far from town so if you are visiting only for a night then please avoid, the way to the hotel is also not that smooth specially if you are travelling with a vehicle of height more than 6 feets. The staff is not at all friendly as they know how helpless you are after reaching such a remote location. We booked two deluxe rooms, only one had the awesome view, one of the rooms has broken flush, limited hot water supply and has only one CFL working out of 5. Towels were not available since they were in laundry as per the manager. Overall a poor experience.
