Had the 3 course set dinner menu. The food itself is well cooked locally sourced food to a wonderful standard and both the a la Carte and set menu provide great variety. Similarly the wine menu is extremely comprehensive to the point that it could be studied for a good 20 minutes. The tables are well spaced and one does...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and for your positive feedback. I just wanted to comment on your point about feeling abandoned at the table. I have discussed this point with the restaurant manager who assures me that the training which she is carrying out with her team is improving all the time and...

Jean and I went for lunch today (Saturday),a damp and gloomy day brightened completely by the gardens and streams at Gordleton. To our discredit ,it was the first visit since the restaurant/hotel changed hands but we had heard many excellent comments about the Mill over the months. It always was special to us and to be honest, after this visit,it...

We had a very special birthday party at the Mill. As always, the staff were superb, managing everybody's requirements perfectly. The private room, which takes a maximum of 16 for meals is the best local venue for this type of event. The food, from the standard Sunday menu, provided great choices for each course. The children's menu was also very...

I don't often do reviews but as a local who has been visiting the restaurant about 6 times a month - I have been disappointed in what was a great place to visit to one that is now average. I took family to the Mill partly because I wanted to give a favourite restaurant another chance and secondly because my...

Lunch with friends; we were well looked after in an attractive dining room with well spaced tables. The food was attractively served except we still had the "who ordered the fish routine". It is a basic requirement of good service for restaurants to know who ordered what. The specials were a lot cheaper than the main menu. All in all...

Lovely setting, very comfortable restaurant ( well spaced tables also), excellent food (decent portions) and attentive staff. What more can I say? All maintained with a change of management. Highly recommended .

Attended with family to celebrate our sons move to Uni. Be sure to pre book on a Saturday lunchtime it was very busy. We had the set lunch menu which represented good value for money. The food was freshly cooked to order and took some time but was worth the wait. The grounds are fabulous & the restaurant cosy. We...

I booked this restaurant for the family to celebrate my mummy's birthday and it was lovely. A beautiful setting, nice local drinks and a tasteful quaintly decorated venue. The starter and dessert was lovely and as it was a Sunday I went for the roast. It was nice, but didn't blow my mind. However the other options on the a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a pretty privately owned restaurant with 7 lovely individually decorated bedrooms, serving gorgeous local or organic food. We try not to be pretentious, preferring instead to be informal and friendly, but we are still totally committed to quality and service. But the best part of all is the river and rambling gardens, home to a family of ducks and if you are lucky you might even spot a Kingfisher! ... more   less
