When we arrived for lunch, there was a large funeral party, but the barman assured us there was no problem about lunch. A reasonably-priced, typical pub lunch menu plus some inetersting-looking specials. Drinks Ok but not exciting. The food took ages to come, despite being mainly pasties and pies which would have been pre-prepared so not exactly difficult to serve....

It can be tricky for a family of 5 to get a room anywhere but The Red Lion has a family room that was spacious and pleasant. Friendly staff (even though the bar was heaving as the rugby was on). Sensibly priced drinks. Dinner food was a bit of a flop unfortunately but maybe it was a busy night. But...

The Red Lion could quite possibly be the best pub in the world! The bar staff are so friendly and well mannered... even when ill they were so accepting and loving! Would fully recommend Fish and Chips

Customers at the bar constantly used the f-word in conversation, not pleasant when I was with my partner trying to enjoy a meal. Disgusting language and disrespectful. Food was ok up until a reveller proceeded to puke twice in the main bar due to drinking too much and then near us on the floor on the way out.

My friend and I stayed for 2 nights, we were visiting Longlete which was less than a 10 minute drive from here so a perfect place to stay. Bath is 30 mins in one direction and Salisbury 30 mins in the other direction. The staff were friendly and very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. We had a light bite...

We stayed here for one night, we had 5 adults in a family room and there was plenty of room for us all. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was lovely! The landlord was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!!

Visited for lunch after a walk on Salisbury Plain on my birthday. Received a warm friendly welcome. Delicious lunch from a great menu. Pie of the day (chicken and leek) was freshly made and tasty. Lovely!!

We were in room number 4, huge room, both children and parents very happy, shower could have been stronger, but I'm nitpicking. Bed was comfy and the pub downstairs wasn't overwhelmingly noisy. Friendly staff who were very accommodating and great with the children. A hidden gem of a climbing frame in the back garden, will definitely be coming back!

We had one room for six people, with an en suite bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable, a little crowded for six, but not bad. We loved the town and enjoyed a nice walk around in the evening. The included breakfast was cooked to order and absolutely delicious. The owners were wonderful, friendly and helpful. We would stay here...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a traditional country pub with home cooked pub food, we have a wood fire set in the middle of the bar and offer a good selection of real ales and lagers at a reasonable price. Although we don't have a separate restaurant our guests are welcome to sit in front of the open fire and dine with us. We are known for our excellent friendly service and welcome everyone here. We have 4 letting rooms that are very clean and spacious, our showers are gravity fed so as long as you have a little patience for the water to get hot , they are fine, but if in doubt we are always here to help. Look forward as always to meeting you ... more   less
