We stopped here for lunch and a day type visit which was $6USD. We could use the facilities as well as using the bar and restaurant. This was while waiting to visit Volcan Msaya. The area had a lovely outlook outdoors and over Apoyo lagoon. You could swim and make use of the kayaks as well

Our room was small, but very comfortable and very clean. Everyone working here were over the top helpful, friendly and treated you like kings/queens. We loved our time at Monkey Hut and would return in a heartbeat. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The restaurants were very good also. They are separate from the hotel as far...

Went back three more times. Couldn't get enough of it. Beautiful water, beach and environment. Excellent service and staff constantly kept an eye on my belongings while I was swimming. Kayaks, tubes, life-jackets all available. Lots of places for sun and shade. Perfect place to spend the day for sun and water. Highly recommend.

Apoyo is a really nice spot to decompress after Granada. Not much going on besides swimming in the lagoon, but the free kayaks and tubes for over night guests are fun. Food and drink are decent, a little pricey but still cheap by any USA standard. I think the room photos are a bit misleading, rooms are small but clean...

More expensive than the typical Nicaraguan hotels, its reasonable when thinking in terms of US prices. Beaitiful view, free kayaks, good wifi, great food, well worth it. (Stayed in largest suite). Hotel is close drive to Mombacho volcano for additional tourism. Very relaxing place. Slept on the balcony's couch with cool lake breeze...perfect

I stayed for two nights in one of the private rooms at Monkey Hut. The room itself was nice enough - clean, decently comfortable bed, no hot water but that's pretty standard. It wasn't very private - if you kept your curtains open, which you want to do to enjoy the view, anyone passing by could look directly inside the...

Many of the reviews talk about staying here. It's a great spot for a day trip, too, easily reached from Managua by car. It's a good stop after visiting the volcano at Masaya. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. The food was pretty good. Kayaks are free with the price of admission. Bring beach towels with you.

Part of me wanted to extend my stay another few nights at the Monkey Hut, but life was too easy and comfortable there. It's truly an ideal hostel set in a piece of paradise. If you're in the Granada/Masaya area, then make a point of visiting Laguna de Apoyo and stay at the Monkey Hut. They take great care of...

I have mixed feelings about monkey hut. We rented the apartment and while it was private and clean with a great balcony space there was nothing in the kitchen, only two plates and one fork and misc other random stuff not great for cooking. The girl at the front desk speaks wonderful English and was so helpful. Apart from her...

We have stayed at a few hotels on the laguna. I would rate the monkey guy among the best values of the options available. There is no AC nor TV, but who need those things at the laguna. They do have wifi and internet as stable as any other hotel in the laguna. The grounds are very well kept. Every...

“If you are a couple or just someone who is looking for a nice room, I would recommend the private rooms! I ended up staying in the dorms; which was was nice as well.”

“The rooms under the balcony facing the laguna get very intense, bright morning sun. The hut on the hill going down has a thatch roof currently covered in plastic, making it quite hot. Day trippers "camp out" right in front of this hut, so there's little privacy on the nice balcony (at least until they all leave).”
