The room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. It’s an attractive property by a tank, which attracts many species of birds. A knowledgeable birder helped us identify them as we had an interest in birds. Our host, the Rajdhiraj of Shahpura, was charming, hospitable and took an interest in us. The food was to die for and the staff were extremely attentive. The swimming pool is an attractive feature, especially when lit up at night. Although this place is off the beaten track, it is well worth a visit for 2-3 nights. Included in the price is a jeep - a WW2 model - tour to a nearby fort and an opportunity to visit nearby villages and learn about life in rural India.

we spent four nights at shapura bagh and this place was the highlight of our trip to india the property is owned by the family since 1630 , upon arrival we were greeted by one of the sisters who had upgraded us to a villa in the grounds as we were the only clients over the christmas period, the accomadation is lovely and luxurious . the following day we had an excursion to one of the local villages on the estate and met the most wonderful people and the happiest children ever , they invited us into their homes and we played games with the local children (ghille dandan ) we were then taken to the estate farm for refreshments and saw how they farmed ,with oldest tree shown to us which contained 30+ bees nests amazing sight . in the evenig we werw taken to the family fort for a glass of champagne to watch the beautiful sunset. the following day i went out with the naturalist for a private bird watching trip which was great, the following day we spent chilling out around the beautiful pool area
we ate in the main house in the evenings and the food was amazing and all explained to us in detail the best food we had in India
Thankyou all for making our stay so memorable ,if we ever get back to this area this place is a must stay

This oasis between Udaipur and Jaipur is a wonderful experience. It is a royal residence, the descendants of the local king come out to greet you. (We went birding with one descendent.). The rooms are huge, comfortable and authentic, and the service is fit for royalty. The grounds are gorgeous. The infinity pool is surrounded by wonderful lounge chairs and cabanas where you can receive drinks in quiet splendor.
The sumptuous excellent multicourse dinner is in a gorgeously appointed 100 year-old dining room with adjacent rooms, displaying stuffed tigers and leopards from the hunting spoils have a bygone era. There are marvelous black-and-white framed photos showing hunting parties with their trophy catches, and photos of princes and princesses from the family line.
You can also visit local subsistence farms and the local village to get a feel for rural Indian life. The people are sincerely happy to host you and everyone loves taking a selfie with you.
Agreed, break from the hustle and bustle the tourist route in the Golden triangle. Try to book at least two nights to allow the relaxed atmosphere to penetrate your soul.

We stopped here for only 1 night and wish we could have stayed longer - this former summer palace has expansive grounds, loads of bird life, and beautifully appointed suites. The staff, especially our host PK, were so attentive and helpful, ensuring we were comfortable at all times.
We really loved enjoying sundowner drinks at the old fort (which is about 12km away) and learning more about the local community and history. Dinner was served outdoors and they were flexible with my friend’s cilantro aversion. I had a refreshing dip in the beautiful pool in the afternoon.
Everything was included in our rate except for drinks with dinner. There is a tip box for all staff instead of tipping individuals, which I always prefer.

Wonderful stop to relax for 1 or 2 nights from a busy travel program through Rajasthan. Nice location, fine steer, beautiful garden and perfect service. This combined with small scale, personal attention and good cuisine makes this a must if you are looking for a stop between Udaipur and Agra.

Such a relaxing, leafy location where we experienced the best food and service. We were given individual attention from the local young staff and were greeted at dinner by the owners who sat and talked about their home, India and their quest to help local school children. Impressive and not to be missed.

This was an excellent one night stay between two safari camps. If we had known the beauty of the place we would have stayed a second night. The owners , management and staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The night of our arrival we were treated to sundowners and snacks at a candle lit fort dating back to 1680. The next morning we had a bird watch tour with Shabbir Khan , whose knowledge on bird life was amazing. I would recommend at least a 2 night stay

This is simply outstanding. 5 star luxury. Staff are extremely friendly, room was beautiful and very spacious. There are two villas suites in the grounds with outdoor shower and extra room with outdoor seating. These may cost a bit more but you will not be disappointed. Highlights of our stay included going to see the sunset from the roof of the old fort which is a 15 minuet jeep ride away, this is a must do activity. Also we had a jeep tour with Shabbir khan who took us to the local school, village and to see rural homes, it was a privilege to be invited to see real rural life and very humbling experience which will remember for a very long time. Shabbir was a brilliant local guide and made our trip so memorable. Once in a lifetime experience, a must to include on your India itinerary

We have had a most wonderful stay at the Shahpura Bagh. Everything here has been great; the room, food, service and activities. It was enjoyable for us to slow down for a day or so and catch up on some sleep.
We had a an excellent naturalist guide, Shabbir Khan Who did a bird walk with us yesterday morning. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He used multiple tools such as his camera, Bird book and personal knowledge in helping us locate an identify many species of birds that were new to us.
The cooking class was a lot of fun and we enjoyed having lunch from it.
The sundowner followed by the dinner at the fort was over the top. We’ve never felt more pampered or paid attention to in any activity we’ve done.
The staff was great, and the owners were very delightful to talk to and paid great attention to us as well as the other guest.
Do yourself a great favor and stay at this facility if you’re anywhere close. You won’t regret it.

If you have the opportunity to stay here, just go! What an amazing place. Unfortunately we had only booked one night, I wish we could have stayed another one at least. We arrived at 4pm and the welcome we received was so warm and friendly. We were asked if we wished to visit their fort for sunset so even though we were tired we said yes, what a great decision. We went there with the Manager, who showed us round and then took us up to the top of the fort. A table had been set up with candles, nibbles and wine and we sat there and watched the sun go down- amazing! The Manager asked if we wished to hear about Indian history as we watched, which was fascinating. What an experience, we felt so special (and the whole experience was included in the overnight price!). We returned for drinks by the pool followed by an amazing meal (mine was specially cooked for me as I can’t eat spicy food). We were so sad to leave the following morning. If we can we will definitely go back. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Thank you so much.
