Called in for a drink, for the first time in a few years. The place had been totally revamped. It was fresh and pleasant inside, the staff were friendly. The beer was good and priced reasonably. However, ordered a 250ml glass of Rose for my wife and was charged £11.80 for the glass - admittedly this was discounted in "Happy Hour" to £9.44. Both prices significantly more than you pay in London. My wife thought the wine was nothing special and thought I had brought the whole bottle for that price.
The inside resembles more of a cafe than a pub but is still a pleasant place to spend a hour or so. The pilot boat has its own micro brewery producing six so called craft beers. Here the problem begins, why spend lots of time and care to produce what are probably high quality products to then carbonate them to within an inch of their life and kill the taste that you lovingly created in the first place. Maybe just brew a couple of exceptional products in larger quantities and served them naturally.
We had a really lovely stay, very comfortable bed, lovely shower everything was clean, staff were all very friendly and helpful, it was a quiet peaceful break away the only thing stopping us giving 5 stars is the breakfast selection was a bit sparse a few pastries would have really made it ! We will definitely be back to stay again. Thanks George and team
We did not expect much when we booked, however upon arrival could tell this was much better than we ever expected (especially for the price we paid)! Was a friendly greeting, and such a lovely room. Cleanest bathroom I've ever seen. And such a lovely powerful shower. And the BED.. Honestly the comfiest bed ever, with the best night's sleep. Again, didn't expect much for breakfast as knew it was just continental, but that was very satisfying, with tea/coffee, Juice, toast, fruit, yogurts, cereal etc. We also chose to eat here in the evening which was for pizzas, and these were again, the best pizzas! Accommodated to our dietary needs, and was so tasty, and reasonably priced! With a lovely cosy atmosphere. Overall, thank you so much to George and Juliette and all the staff at the Pilot Boat Inn for such a fabulous stay!…
We went on an impromptu visit for dinner and a drink. This was our first time visiting and it won’t be our last. The pizza was freshly cooked and delicious. We also tried a glass of ale which I would recommend. I had the light ale and my husband had the darker one. Both were lovely.
