I visited with my young sons for a spot of lunch. The service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere just perfect for a sunny afternoon overlooking the sea. I had the Leek, feta and sweetcorn polenta cake with came with a tomato Verde salad and lovely Greek yogurt. It was absolutely delicious, nicest lunch I have had in ages. What a lovely afternoon!
Friendly enough staff, waited for a table, food and menu good however I had to ask for some bread with my mussels, then had to ask for a finger bowl neither were a problem but I had to ask, would have marked up to a 4 star otherwise, not that easy to find
Live music adds nothing for me, seems to be same bloke every time, poor local residents! No longer quiet place with beautiful seaviews to enjoy food and drink. Good pub grub, fish etc good, lobster ££££, extended outdoor dining - knock on effect less parking, walk or use clifftop car park.
We arrived in the pub for drinks on the first day. It was as if we were in our in local from home. Lots of banter, good laughs and friendliness from the staff. We went back for lunch a few days later. Very acceptable, good service and reasonably priced. What’s not to like?
Fun in the sun afternoon with friends whilst spending a few days on the Island. The Crab and Lobster visit was a fabulous find as it is very much off the beaten track. It is on the coastal right next door to a coastguard station. The sea view was stunning, the food fabulous and the staff both friendly and efficient. A must place to visit if you want good food in a stunning location. A very well kept pub.
My partner and I visited this establishment last night. Ellie was so friendly and helpful as my partner is partially sighted she made sure the he was safely escorted to our table. The atmosphere was lovely and food hot and fresh. We will definitely be going back. Also our taxi let us down and Ellie secured us one immediately 🥰 altogether a positive and pleasant experience highly recommended .
We are regular patrons of the Character Inns, and the Crab & Lobster is one of our favourites, along with The Buddle. As somebody else mentioned, the quality of food and service dipped temporarily in 2021, but we’re very pleased to say that everything is back back to its usual high standard now! We have consistently had excellent service and great, home cooked food recently. The Crab & Lobster Inn is in a lovely, tucked away location overlooking the sea in Bembridge. It is a very cozy, characterful pub with a roaring fire in winter, and live music on Sundays. In summer you can sit out on the terrace with uninterrupted views of the English Channel. The beach can be accessed by a small path.
Stayed here for two nights in February, just before the big storms hit. The room was basic but comfortable but breakfast was fantastic, My husband groaned as he'd eaten too much each morning as he left the table after his beautifully cooked full breakfast. I had crispy toasted bacon sandwiches both mornings with lovely 'real' bread and bacon cooked just right. My main reason for this review is to complement the new chef's soup. I had crab and lobster bisque. It was sensational! I would have had it for a main course too if I'd known and possibly for dessert - can you have too much of a good thing? I'll never know but I may well have to travel from Buckinghamshire soon to check it wasn't just a one off miracle - thank you for such a delicious memory
Clearly, 2021 was not a vintage year for the C&L, as like many on here , the food and service left a lot to be desired. 2022 seems somewhat different though , and as a regular patron here, I’m delighted to give not just a thumbs up, but indeed a seal of approval. The food was delicious and the beers on offer numerous and not just the bog standard “ Fosters”. As far as the service is concerned, we’ll, how many pubs do you go to where ,the manager gives you lift their car when you can’t get hold of a taxi.
4 of us booked for Sunday lunch, the menu was a good choice, a nice wine list with a great gavi 2 of us had the Sunday roast, 3 meat roast, pork, brisket & lamb which was only £17 - the root vegetables where beautiful, roasted sweet full of flavour with roasted potatoes, broccoli and a huge Yorkshire pudding topped of with gravy. Fabulous roast. My husband had the lobster and romesco sauce, the lobster was sweet and well cooked. My husband even got some mussels on the side which wasn’t part of the dish but when he asked if he could try them, it wasn’t too much trouble! Desserts where fabulous, crumble, sticky toffee, brownie… how could you go wrong The place itself could do with maybe a clear out of all the wooden structures inside and opening the main area up however the little nooks off the main bar are characterful & cosy .. the new owner Carly I’m sure will turn this little place by the sea into a hot spot, the food and service was brilliant, great location, very accessible from our accommodation at the warners resort Good luck guys and thank you for a lovely meal and a beautiful warm reception…
