all the staff were really friendly and welcoming and advised us on where to go etc.
the rooms were really modern cleaned everyday
the only problem was it was a bit away from the centre about a 15 minute drive from the centre. but we were nearby dundrum shopping centre which was great especially for the girls! there were places to eat there shops and everything.
but overall we had a great stay and would go back again would recommend it to anyone really good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No bar. No restaurant. Tram stations long walks away.
Eventually got partial refund.
Would never return.
As other reviewers have indicated, it is a somewhat "quirky" (at least different) choice for purely leisure travel. As near as I could determine, the IMI offers courses in business and hosts trade shows/exhibits, but also has approximately 50 hotel rooms on-site. These hotel rooms are apparently open for booking by both attendees of IMI seminars and also to regular holidaymakers who are there only for accommodation.
The IMI Residence is located approximately 4 miles SSE of central Dublin and is accessible by both Dublin Bus routes and also the "LUAS" (Irish Gaelic for "speed") light rail line. My wife and I primarily used LUAS to get between the IMI Residence and central Dublin. The nearest LUAS stop to the IMI Residence is "Balally," which station is located conveniently across the street from the new and modern Dundrum Town Centre shopping mall. Just as a word of warning to tourists, I would note that from the Balally LUAS station to the IMI Residence, you're looking at a pretty brisk 10-15 minute walk, all of it uphill. So, for your first arrival at the IMI Residence, you may want to consider a taxi or the bus if you are hauling a few suitcases or bags.
The whole of the IMI complex (with the exception of one preserved, older building) is ultra-modern, with a look not unlike something out of "A Clockwork Orange" or perhaps the Jefferson Institute from the movie "Coma." Everything is concrete and glass, with lines evocative of the Bauhaus architectural movement. I particularly enjoyed this look, but I suppose others may find it too industrial looking for their tastes.
The rooms at the IMI Residence are very nicely appointed, with comfortable beds, distinctive lighting, a nice television, a wonderful bathroom with a powerful shower (which can be hard to find in Europe), an in-room hospitality tray (restocked with tea, coffee and biscuits daily) and radiant heating.
The rooms include free continental breakfast each morning, served on the mezzanine level, and the breakfast includes cereal, milk, juices, tea, coffee, pastries, ham and cheese. We certainly found the breakfast offering to be more than adequate to provide enough energy to start the day.
As others have indicated in their reviews, the IMI Residence can seem particularly quiet and deserted at night, although peace and quiet were exactly what we were looking for. The IMI Residence does not have a club or a bar, but alcoholic beverages are available from the front desk 24 hours a day. We also found the front-desk staff to be very helpful in arranging take out meals (which can apparently be delivered to the IMI Residence from several different restaurants).
All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay at the IMI Residence, and although it is perhaps somewhat of an unusual choice for purely leisure travel, we found that it suited our needs perfectly, and we were able to book there through a third-party travel site for approximately $100 (U.S.) per night, including breakfast. For the money, we felt that it was well worth it for the 10-15 minute walk to the LUAS station and then a journey of a few minutes on the LUAS to the St. Stephen's Green LUAS stop, which puts one right in the heart of some of the most visited parts of Dublin, including Trinity College and Grafton Street.
The rooms are spotless and all staff were very polite , helpful and smiled all the time!
A big thank you to all at IMI Residence we will return soon!
Hotel staff, are friendly, very helpful, and kind. Tea making facilities are available 24/7. They even got our breakfast ready for us earlier than usual, at 5.00 am as we had an early flight. Usualy buffet type food, allthough no full english breakfast. Everywhere was clean and tidy, and pleasant to stay in.
You can get access to broadband free in your room, with insturctions from hotel, which is a good bonus if you brought your laptop. Although they do have a PAYG computer downstairs with internet access for you to use.
The bathroom was clean, and well maintained, with perfect finish. For the price, its well worth it. Unfortuneately it is a little away from the town. Although fairly easy to get to. Read below ...
We Arrived at Dublin Airport, got a taxi, which there are plenty off, to St. Stephen's Green, where there is the tram to Sandyford. This tram, Sandyford will take you near to the IMI residence. It costs 2.00 euro single, and 3.80 euro return for adults. Get off the tram two stops before Sandyford which is called Killmacud, you now want to make your way towards a hotel called Beacon Hotel, walk towards beacon hotel, as you get there, turn right, walk all the way down to the bottom of the road, passing a few shops on the right, you should see the sign for the hotel in front of you, turn right a little, then cross the road at the lights, follow the signs to the IMI Residence, not reception, then arrive at your destination.
Our taxi cost 27 euros to get to St. Stephen's Green, however on the way back home we got a taxi from the imi hotel to a hotel called Bewleys hotel, here you can catch an AirCoach, which takes you to the aiport, the taxi cost's 10 euro, and the coach costs 7 euro's each. Cheapear than 45 euros. for two people.
The aircoach takes 45 minutes to get to the airport from Bewleys hotel.
Search luas timetable in google for more information, then click on the first link to luas.ie, the imi residence hotel website is hidden away which is imi.ie/res aircoach route is aircoach.ie/map.routes.leopardstown.php search aircoach in google for more info.
To get to the IMI residence from the airport it will cost you around 45 euros.
In dublin they have a sight seeing bus, we went with dubin tours, 14 euros each, valid for 24 hours, excellent way to travel around the town, hop on and off when ever you want. Well worth it. Drinks are expensive ish, although you can get some great food places there. Cheap too!
You will enjoy every minute.

Bed rooms are good size, very simply furnished and spotlessly clean. Bathroom has only a walk in shower with the shower power hardly sufficient to wash the shampoo off your hair. Bath towels are hopelessly small.
The accommodation is about a 15 minute walk from Dundrum town centre and a further 5 minutes to the Luas tram into Dublin. My advice would be not to stay here unless you have a car and even then one or two nights would possibly suffice.
the hotel is quite new and tastefully decorated and kept clean (in a word SPOTLESS) t he bed was most comfortable-breakfast was a small buffet but good value and enough to start the day-free newspapers and the staff were so friendly and pleasant.the hotel was perfecr for us as it was in 12 acres of ground-so no outside noise-the hotel is mostly for business people on a training course so they were also quiet,i normally like a top name hotel but this hotel will be top of my list next time im in dublin-i will certainly try to book this hotel first
"The trams are still a 20 minute walk from the residence but the rooms are excellent value and spacious. "Read full review
"All rooms are basically the same as far as I could see - there's a lift so access is ok."Read full review
