The hotel delivers what it promises. Nothing too fancy. Good location close to the train station and acceptable price. It's somewhat old and there is no elevator, however I thought the room I was given was clean, large, and decent.

Situated in the centre of Regua, yards from the railway station and minutes walk from the river dock, this is the ideal place to use as a base. Clean, neat, if not a little quirky, this residencial is welcoming and friendly. Reception staff were great and booked a terrain/ boat trip on the Douro within minutes of asking. Gave good advice about where to visit and which restaurants to visit, along with where to go with or without a car. Breakfasts were excellent and the lady on duty was great and helpful. Imperio is used by tourists a and workers alike so h\as a buzz. Just as an aside, met a lovely girl from Taiwan, and English teacher, who was travelling on her own and her next stop was Bordeaux! She was a delight and we wish here all the best in the future.

Room Tip: The hotel is at a junction so probably a room facing the river would be good.

The room was clean as was the bathroom. The staff were efficient and friendly. Although the window faced the Main Street, sleeping was not a problem. As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast selection was minimal but sufficient. I don't understand why other reviewers have complained about the lack of an elevator. None of the rooms is more than two floors above ground level. In my humble opinion people who cannot carry their bags up two flights of stairs in order to save on a 27 Euro per night hotel room perhaps should reconsider the amount that they're schlepping along with them.

The room is spacious and the breakfast is basic. And this is the strengths of this place! Although it is currently a hotel, it is clearly evident that it was once a residential or pension. The reception is tiny and barely fit two people and you can not even carry a lot of luggage to the check in, and there is no lift. The room was very hot and full of mosquitoes, Noisy AC even turn off. Badly clean bathroom with holes in the shower filled with brown liquid, looks like bacteria buildup.

The lobby is small and not very inviting, with sort of a mish-mash of furniture and computer for guest use. Oddly enough, the rooms are much nicer than expected after seeing the lobby. The room was a good size with air-conditioning and older furniture, but nicely decorated and with decent linens on the bed. The bathroom was also a good size with nice towels and tile floors and walls. There is an armoire, nightstands and luggage rack to round out the furniture, a bit old but still in decent condition. There is no elevator. There is free underground parking around the corner, but no lift into the hotel from there either. Breakfast was included in the rate. There was a nice coffee machine dispensing espressos, coffees, chocolate milk, hot water and another machine for some kind of juice cocktail. Cereal and milk are provided, along with a nice assortment of breads and cakes, all nicely displayed along with a selection of jams. Cheese, ham and yogurt were also offered.
