the owner, diego, was out of town but we were met by a volunteer, david, who was very friendly and filled us in about the place, the location with lots of possibilities of things to do, and about the people. there's plenty to do around the area whether you want a lengthy hike or just a day hike. for the...

After busy days of traveling to small pueblos to provide dental treatment, the Oso was an oasis offering good food, great accommodations and the charming quiet bar area was the perfect area to relax and discuss our dental trip. The hotel is owned and run by Ana and Doug Rhodes. They have always made us feel welcome and spend time...

I have traveled extensively in Mexico and have never had the owners of a hotel take such an interest in their clients. The tours were detailed and extensive. The food in the hotel is five-star and the presentation and service a wonderful surprise. (Great bar and popcorn!) The location is wonderfully remote with easy access to tons of hiking and...

Paraiso del Oso is first of all a PRIME LOCATION in Cerocahui because of the cliffs and rivers that surround the hotel. Scenary is abolutely gorgeous. Doug built the hotel at the very right place. Then you have Doug and his wife, staff, grandkids, dogs, horses, trainees: all nice and making every efforts to make your stay as enjoyable as...

I was travelling with my father; we spent two nights in this lovely Hotel while travelling on the Copper Canyon train. I would have loved to stay longer to really explore the incredible mountains and canyons around the hotel - treckking or on horseback (there was only time for a short trip) - it is a perfect base. The owners...

We loved the del Oso. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfy and open onto a courtyard with a wonderful view of the mountains. The food was plentiful and delicious. There are wonderful hiking trails all around, and the hotel provides a great base from which to explore Cerocahui and take a day trip...

We stopped there during the dry season (winter) and one should realized it is awfully dusty. The hotel is right next to the bumpy road and you hear heavy trucks passing very early in the morning. The temperature was pretty cold and we had some wood for the stove, which is fine for the evening but pretty unpleasant in the morning...

This is a owner operated, and built operation. The effort is there but the operation is below average. The owner does have access to a site overlooking the canyons, that is spectacular!! It's worth putting up with "no choice menu" , rough roads, and vehicles that don't work , to see the spectacular vistas.

I stayed here for 2 nights during a tour of the Copper Canyon and had a wonderful time. The drive in from the train was exciting and gave a good introduction to the type of road travel we were in for the next day! The rooms are located around a central courtyard with lots of comfortable chairs for just lounging...

“All the rooms have beautiful views of the "Yogi the Bear" rock formation. We honestly didn't spend all that much time in the room because the lodge the the surrounding landscape were so incredible. There was plenty of hot water, and the beds were comfortable, and that was all that mattered to us.”
