The tranquil setting allows for relaxation on arrival. Beach walks at your doorstep and a short drive to topnotch wineries and antique stores. The breakfast is outstanding and beautifully presented, and afternoon scones and muffins await your return in the afternoons. The bed was comfortable++ and a lovely ensuite completes the accommodation. The evenings were exceptional as we spent time...

I'm not sure which of three highlights make this an unforgettable getaway: the location, the accommodations, or the hosts. If I had to choose, it's probably evenly split between the three, with the hosts, Keith and Ann, winning in the end. The lodge is a large private home split cleanly between Keith & Ann's residence and the guest accommodations. Although...

We came feeling stressed and exhausted and left feeling refreshed, relaxed and well cared for. Ann and Keith were super hosts and gave us helpful tips on the surrounding walks and geography. The spa was amazing - outdoor elevated spa in the forest and you can see all the stars! Highly recommended A++++++++++++

This was the last place we stayed in our 6-weeks tour of New Zealand - and we found that we had saved the best till last. Although the weather had broken, and in our 3 nights and 2 days at Karekare we had almost continuous rain, wind, and fog (or rather low cloud as the lodge is high in the...

Entirely surrounded by and overlooking bush and lush rain forest right down to magical Karekare beach, this lodge is a peaceful haven hidden in the most perfect, unspoiled surroundngs. Awake to the sound of Tui and views from the decking across the Waitakere Ranges or down to the Tasman Sea. Our bathroom had a loo with an amazing view, across...

A lovely retreat. Welcoming owners who get the balance of interacting with clients and respecting clients privacy just right. On arrival there was something small for afternoon tea which was a nice touch. Lovely rooms with DVD players and lots of DVDs to chose from in the lounge. Guest lounge that is separate from home with TV and tea and...
