Met the owner/chef while travelling. Eyal is an amazing fellow to talk to- he's got pura vida all figured out. We didn't stay or eat here (just stopped in to use the bathroom and have a couple of drinks on our way to Nuevo Arenal) but would definitely book a couple of nights if we come back to this region... We were lucky enough to dine and spend the night at this amazing hotel. Just a 40 min drive from La Fortuna we decided to spurge and spend the evening in the wine room. Don't regret it at all. The wine room is one of a couple of themed rooms and its absolutely amazing. Large open room with a shower... More

We almost missed this gem of a restaurant. It's in a beautiful part of lake Arenal. We started with the mushrooms in a creme sauce and it was out of this world. The BBQ ribs were the best I have ever eaten. Lots of nice local folks hanging out at the bar made it a special evening. It's a must... More

The food was excellent !!!! The daily selection was perfecto ! Deserts were to die for . The chef cooking was 5/5. The main entrees were large enough to feed two people at a super reasonable price 😊Only problem encountered was we noticed that there was not enough road signs along the road to La Fortuna and from La Fortuna... We stayed at the Gingerbread Hotel for 4 nights and were not only treated but spoiled by the chef with vegan breakfasts and meals - never had any better meals in Costa Rica - thinking about it - hardly ever had a better meal anywhere (except at home). Eyal explained with every meals the ingredients, how he cooked it and... More

Dave and I stayed one night at the Gingerbread House at one of the casitas built next to the restaurant. We were greeted by the owner when we arrived, who showed us around and into our beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed a cold beer on the front porch of the restaurant, with a great view of Arenal Lake. Our... More

We were in Nuevo Arenal for 4 nights and were told on our first day there about Gingerbread. We loved the entire experience! The food was wonderful and chef Eyal's personality made the evening even better. We liked it so much we went back 2 more nights!

We stayed the night at the Gingerbread Hotel after enjoying dinner at the restaurant. The food was very good and the chief was personable and entertaining. It wasn't just a meal, it was an experience. The room was comfortable and adequate. I really enjoyed the breakfast which was included in the room fee. Thankfully it was not the typical Cost... More

Staying at Gingerbread was amazing. The Casita that I stayed in was so beautiful and comfortable. I felt peaceful and safe. The open air shower set up was especially great. Steps away from beautiful views and great places to hike or do yoga, the staff were friendly and everything was clean and perfect.
