So... Where to begin? 1. Both myself & my partner speak fluent Spanish and all conversations were held in Spanish.. 2. We have lived in the area for over 10 years and it is as beautiful as imagined. 3. This is the only time I have ever felt the need to write such a long review. 4. This trip was not something we couldn´t afford, but it was a trip that I saved for to make sure it could be special. My main complaint is to do with the quality/cost balance. This review is for a 4 star hotel who would have charged 220€ for board for 2 nights, breakfast and 1hr of spa, 60€ for a 50 minute massage and 60€ for a dinner for 2. Before anyone else considers spending at least 400€ (plus lunch) on a 2 night stay, please read this. I hope it is balanced. I booked online through their website. It meant we had a free drink (alcohol free) on arrival and discounts on spa treatments. After booking I called to confirm it had gone through, book our spa time, my partners massage and hopefully reserve in the "the brasserie" restaurant... Reservas confirmed my booking and passed me to the spa to book. Spa was rude (tone and demeanor) and unhelpful, but eventually we found a slot. They told me to call the main line back if I wanted to reserve in the restaurant as it is a seperate company. Again with reservas, who informed me that you cannot reserve in any of the 3 restaurants on-site, but not to worry. The general attitude on the phone should have been a warning that the customer service and communication weren´t great. 1 week later we arrive. My husband is a little picky, so I laughed as he complained about the lack of signs to help you when you arrive to check in at the resort. When you book you aren´t informed of which hotel you will be staying in, so you need to go to a main reception - which isn´t so clear and only one has a physical person in reception. We noticed while wandering that the building looked a litte worn and weathered. 4.30pm: Queued for reception and witnessed various guests complaining to an obviously frazzled receptionist. I commented to my husband that one guest´s attitude seemed really rude - they´re just peple trying to do their job after all... I didn´t realise that I would be that rude guest around 5 hours later. 5pm: We checked in, dropped our bags in a very dated and dirty room, before heading to the spa. It was fine. Worth 45€ per person? No. Dated, damp and decayed in places and discoloured. The outdoor parts were terrible. At both the reception and the spa I asked them to reccommend which on-site restaurant would be nice for a special meal that evening, both said the brasserie. My husband had a massage which cost 60€. Also fine. Considering it´s a 50 minute treatment which started at 6.35pm and he was back in the old and worn room by 7.25pm... Anyway, we still thought dinner and a few drinks in the bar would solve the day. After all the surroundings are absolutely stunning. 8pm: Off we went (early to make sure we got a table) to the Brasserie to try some local food. It was closed. Since no one had mentioned this we were suprised and headed upstairs to the Continental Restaurant - a buffet - and asked Carlos the matri if it would be opening. As a queue formed behind me he told me our options were the buffet or the italian. At this point we decided we would rather not stay 2 nights. His one word answers, the lack of communicatin, the dirty windows and sad buildings were NOT the treat we were hoping for. 8.30pm: The friendly woman at reception said she understood and offered a free night any time before November. I asked her to get the night deducted from the bill, as we wouldn´t be returning. She said to enjoy our dinner and she´d have an answer later on. We headed to the Italian. - I´ll leave another review for that place... "Great starters (honestly YUM!), fun & friendly waiter, shop bought pasta & sauce and a frozen pizza, with a terrible manager: "No one has ever complained." "We think it´s fine" "That´s not my probem." were her responses to "Honestly we can´t eat it, can you swap the main?" "Maybe we´re fussy, but it´s really not nice and undercooked". The best being "We ordered the caprese tortalini not the 4 cheese ravioli".. "Well we only have this". My husband ate the pasta as it was passable and he was hungry, even he drew the ine at the pizza. This man has never left pizza in his life. We told her we were unhappy, she said the chef thought it was fine and brought us the full bill. We put it on the room so as not to pay the bill. Told her we wouldn´t be paying for the mains and would speak with reception... She asked us if we wanted desert and laughed when we said we wouldn´t chance it. 10pm: While we ordered a drink at the bar (great guys with lots of advice about the area) I went to speak to reception. They were willing to knock 70€ off of the 220€ bill and we would only stay one night. However, now I had to speak to them about the food. At this point I was tired and dissapointed. They called the matri, Carlos. He was trying to oversee 2 restaurants and a wedding they had on. He was brusk and rude. Of course he was. After an annoyingly long converstion and several phone calls he told me the bill was clear and we wouldn´t be charged. I was suprised as the problem was over the mains, so thanked him but also said there was no need to wipe the whole thing, but he just wanted to get on with hs job - I felt bad for him, but also decided it wasnt my problem. This is around 11pm. We went to the room with bottle of wine, decided to plan the next day´s walk, and checked out the next day after breakfast. We were seated for a frankly terrible and chaotic breakfast at 8.30am by the same matri Carlos and checked out by the same receptionist at 10am... I´m not surprised they were brusk or rude. I am not surprised that the receptionist didn´t disagree when I said it wasn´t 4 star hotel. I am not surprised that (despite the claim that no one complains) there are terrible reviews on here nor that while at breakfast we heard so many people complaining about how much they had paid. The place needs a serious face lift and the staff need a break. Most of all I dislike that I had to be an angry customer to receive any compensation. The worst way to start a romantic break. Our mediocre experience after discounts and a free meal still cost 235€.. 1 night, 2 people in the spa for an hour, a massage and a bottle of 15€ wine... The area is beautiful, book ANYWHERE else. Again, if it weren´t a 4 star hotel I wouldn´t complain, but this is expensive and terrible.

Hello emmill11278! We appreciate that you have dedicated a few minutes of your valuable time to describing your experience at Hotel Continental on TripAdvisor, without a doubt it helps us to improve the service and attention to our clients. We deeply regret that our Hotel has not lived up to your expectations and your stay was not entirely satisfactory. We regret your discontent with our restaurants and would like to offer you our sincerest apologies, as these are clearly practices that do not meet our usual standard of quality and service and which we strive to insure our customers. However, you can be sure that your opinion has already been shared with the head of department to inform them about this situation so that cases do not happen again. We feel your dissatisfaction with the room assigned, we would have liked that your complaint had been expressed at the time you detected it and have had the possibility to solve it and make your stay more pleasant. As for the Spa Termas de Tiberio, we feel your discontent, I do not know what could happen, because all our employees are great professionals and the situations that you describe about the service received, do not correspond at all with our standards of attention to our customers. I want to show you my most sincere apologies and I assure you that we take your comments into account for our future revisions. We hope in the future to give us the opportunity to show you that we are at the height of a hotel in our category. Sincerely, Director of Customer Relations Balneario de Panticosa.

On the night of 11.8.2017 and after 8 pm at night we have been in the village Torla rdesa and we found out that there is no available room in any hotel in this village. We booked then with booking.com a room in Continental hotel in Panticosa After 5 minutes we realized that we made a mistake and its a long drive in the mountains and in the night. About two hours driving. WWe called to the hotel on phone to cancel but they said that only booking.com can do it. We didnt show up. Now after we returned home we spoke with booking.com who spoke with the hotel. and the hotel said they don't give back the money they charged!!! May be legally they are right. I think it is not a fair behavior. It is bad for a business to take money from a customer without giving any service at all I leave it to the readers to decide

We drove from Bielsa to Panticosa on the picturesque (but curvy) N 260 and enjoyed the view. The staff were friendly. The room was small but modern with luxurious finishes and we did not spend much time there. Dinner at the restaurant was good. It is connected to the Termas de Tiberious (hot spring) which was our motive for the visit and you get a 10 euro discount. Great hiking in the area as well. There are only a few restaurants and only a tiny store with few food items so purchase your food/drinks for hiking in the town of Panticosa before driving to the Balnearia. My only complaint about the hotel was that the carpet in the hall was stained and needed replacement.

Dear Elaine U! Thanks for describing and commenting on TripAdvisor your stay, these details help us detect aspects to improve. We thank you for your positive words to our staff, we will transmit it to you to continue to improve day by day. As for the rooms, they may seem small, but they correspond to the medium-high size of hotels of the same category. We took note of your suggestion on the carpet and passed your complaint to our apartment department so they can fix it. We look forward to welcoming you back to our Resort in the future. Sincerely, Director of Customer Relations Balneario de Panticosa.

Staff at reception desk were exceptionally friendly and accommodating and spoke fluent English. The restaurant offered many great choices and friendly, competent service. The area was spectacular and offered excellent hiking. The historic hotel had recently remodeled rooms. Parking was free and conveniently located. Wifi reception was strong and free. The only negatives were bathroom privacy was minimal, TV operation was difficult to understand. The veneer had fallen off of the desk drawer. These were only minor issues for us & we absolutely loved this hotel and location!

My boyfriend and I stayed here over my birthday, which is also Valentines and often causes a few problems. We arrived tired after snowboarding looking forward to using the spa facilities. At check in, we asked about the pool and were told that we couldn't that night ... the receptionist failed to tell us that the whole thing would be closed for our stay. We booked a circuit in the smaller spa for the next morning. We also asked if it was necessary to book for dinner, especially as it was Valentines and were told that no, just turn up. So later, we turned up at the restaurant and were told that we needed a reservation and the tables were now full.... Instead we went to a pizzeria, also part of the hotel. I was annoyed at first but actually the situation became quite amusing as we were sat by the door and every minute people with the same problem were turning up and getting turned away as now, this restaurant was full too. There were TWO WAITERS trying to deal with this full restaurants and things were evidently going wrong. They did well in the circumstances. Food was good, despite the slow service. We used the reception bar which was pretty busy. Again... there was only one guy serving. We were charged three different prices for the same three rounds of drinks. I think this might have had something to do with the fact we were speaking in English?? By the third time, we were pretty annoyed, the barman seemed to notice this and came back to the bar saying sorry he'd made a mistake and gave us some money back. Completely unacceptable, he'd just forgotten that he'd served us earlier... maybe because I wasn't at the bar the times before so only served my boyfriend (Spanish) Room - no one who runs this hotel has ever stayed in one of the rooms, that's for sure. There was no information (maybe this had been taken out seeing as the main spa was closed). No wifi. The shower looks cool but is completely impossible to use without making a huge mess. There was nothing to wash your face with, yet a complementary loofa. There was a really annoying wooden thing at the end of the bed which I walked into during the night and bruised my leg... all these little things which just left us feeling a bit frustrated. The next morning we did the spa circuit, we had no information about this either and as there was no information in the room, didn't know how to call reception... so we queued up at the desk to ask. When we got there it was pretty underwhelming. There was a small hot pool and a steam room, with two cold pools which had dirty water. The outdoor "hot" pool was so cold I couldn't enjoy the amazing scenery. In summary, this badly managed hotel wastes such a potential business in beautiful scenery. I feel ripped off seeing as we weren't told the spa Termas del Tiberio (and the whole reason we booked the place) wouldn't be open.
