This wonderful little B&B is tucked away on a one-lane road on the hillside in a steep valley a few miles from the coast. I stayed here in early October, 2012. My gps got me very close, but I had to stop and ask someone for directions. It was then that I saw the sign. It is in a nicely...

Lovely hideaway in the hills away from the noise and crowded tourist areas. Lovely apartment with kitchen, fridge etc. Very tranquil, very clean, lovely swimming pool. Internet wifi. We will definitely be back for at least a week. Meals in the restaurant were very good and again nice and quiet. Great place to unwind. Entrance road is a bit narrow.

A lovely setting in the hills with excellent accommodation in beautifully appointed apartments. Swimming pool lovely and everything so clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant excellent. Lovely little private terrace outside each apartment to sit in the evenings. Near to Gioiosa Marea town by car, but far to walk and all uphill on the...

We visited Borgo San Francesco with my brother's family (in all 4 adults, 5 kids). We rented two apartments which were modern, well-equipped (sky TV, useful during the Olympics!, and own terrace) and spotless. The pool was fantastic and the kids absolutely loved it. Tonino, one of the owners was always there if you needed something and all the staff...

This is a perfect accommodation spot in the middle of nature surrounded by farms and in the meantime not far away from the centre of Gioiosa Marea. Important to have your own car to be able to visit the northern part of Sicily and take life at leisure. Upon arriving at Borgo San Francesco one can walk down a path...

Words can not express the tranquility and beauty of Borgo San Francesco! My trip got off to a rocky start because my travel agency dropped the ball but I can not say enough about the lovely little hamlet. Everyone at the borgo was warm and inviting, Each person giving ideas of favorite little known treasures that made every day special...

Well decorated, comfortable aparts, private terraces, a very nice restaurant, friendly personnel...Peaceful and clean environment.... about 5 kms to the seaside, 10 kms to the messina-palermo highway... Even in April we enjoyed this place.

We were in Sicily in July as part of two couples traveling together. Borgo San Francesco was our first stop of the trip, but ended up being our favorite. In restrospect, we wish we had stayed here a bit longer. The setting is gorgeous -- our apartment had a lovely terrace overlooking the valley, with a smaller upstairs balcony off...

We stayed for just one night, but we`ll definately stay longer next time. The apartment was newbuilt, spatious and clean overlooking the mountains. Our two teenagers loved the pool. We hade a very nice dinner at the restaurant. Friendly staff and a nice afternoon at the poolside with Sandra from the owner family, and her friend John.

Sandra and her family were welcoming, accomodating and a pleasure to meet. This location is ideal for a relaxing layed back place to lay your head. Our children 20yrs &12yrs were not thrilled, however Mom and Dad were. The pool was open, there was ping pong, tv lounge, and internet. We loved that we could shop in town and cook...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 4-star Borgo San Francesco is a newly restored charming residence with a cluster of little villas (once farm houses) and private patios and gardens that have an exclusive feel to them. There is also a pool conveniently situated where the sun always shines and a charming restaurant with floor to ceiling windows that greatly enhance the eating experience during the summer. Our restaurant is committed to making sure you experience the full plethora of Sicilian foods and wine, serving above all, country- style local dishes. We specialize in the essence of traditional, local cuisine using only the freshest products sometimes grown only a few km from the Borgo. While being immersed in this enveloping atmosphere, one is also in close proximity to the charming seaside town of Gioiosa Marea (only 4 km away, of mostly straight roads) and can conveniently visit other areas of Sicily while using our Borgo as a base for planning trips, as well as a calm, serene place to return to. There is also a common room with a fireplace, a reading area with many books and maps on the area and the island on whole and internet point. ... more   less

“We stayed at Melograno room, which was suitable for a grown up couple who does not care for large tv screens but likes own terrasse and great atmosphere. Air con is very quiet and everything is modern and good quality. We did not take pictures of the room but is is nice clean and similar to other hotel rooms.”

“We stayed in Arancia - it's the closest to reception, car park and restaurant - so has the least stairs. However, in the evenings you might hear some voices outside as there are benches for people to sit close by - but there is a quiet time policy in the hotel so they won't be loud till late.”
