My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on a self guided walking tour around La Gomera. Overall it was very good, it's only basic style accommodation which is the type we were in throughout our tour (and pretty much all that seems available on the island) so that's what you get. It's the highest village...

We were in a large group of walkers and ended at Bar Sonia for lunch. All good local La Gomerian fare. Vegetable soup. Rabbit and a beef stew with salted boiled potatoes washed down with their own wine. Rustic but great tasting.

As a large group of walkers we enjoyed a splendid spread washed down by wine from their own vines. Fabulous soup, a choice of chicken, beef or tuna casseroles (or a combination of all three!), followed by delicious Gomeran pudding of gofio mousse & Palm honey. Friendly efficient service. As soon as a dish was emptied it was replaced by...

Good location ( actually the only one) in Chipude. But after a day of hiking, one's happy for a bed and a hot shower. No frills, no luxury - just the basics. But the place is clean and the restaurant downstairs serves good homemade, Gomeran food.

We stayed here for just one night. Started well - The beer choice was good including some nice German bottled beers and the evening meal was tasty hearty home cooking. During our stay in early March the weather was particularly cold and windy, which highlighted the poor fitting sliding door in our room to the terrace. Even with the plug-in...

Stayed here once more. We were walking through the Island, as were most of the other guests. Sonia gives you a warm welcome. Rooms are basic and need a bit of heat in winter. We were lucky to have a sunny evening and able to sit out and enjoy beers and snacks. The evening meal was again good value. The...

The bar serves bad tasting torrefacto coffee for 1 euro. If you prefer arabica type of coffee I advise to move on to Bar Victoria in El Cercado where the coffee is excellent (Mocay). I have no experience with other drinks or food in this bar; this rating is valid for the coffee only.

After a wonderful hike up to Mount Fortaletza, did we enjoy Bar Sonias lovely food and drink outside in the shade. A tasty stew with chicken, fresh bread and cold beer. Quick service and friendly staff. After the food we relaxed with a cup of strong coffee and then we were ready to catch the bus down to Valle Gran...

Rooms and location OK for the price, shame that the staff is somewhat unwelcoming and indifferent. We would think twice about coming back here. Other places in the region were much more friendly and interested in their clients.

From Valle Hermoso Sherpa transferred our luggage to Bar Sonia. It is located very high in La Gomera, the highest bar/ restaurant in the island. The island bus , line 1 stops just outside the hotel. It is again February and it is cold down yo 5 degrees, there is no heating in the bar/ restaurant area, so we put...

“Great place to stay if you like to explore Cercano, visit the ceramics there. And also visit bosque del cerro and garojonay. If we were going there again, we would not choose to stay the night there as it is to cold in February. In warmer weather it will be great.”
