We spent two nights here from Friday to Sunday we were given a warm greeting on arrival and that was carried on through the whole visit all staff very friendly and happy to help Room was very nice and clean and had all we needed for our stay .
The Inn is ideally situated on the village green, but convenient for the mainline rail station. The bar is well presented, although a beer enthusiast may not find sufficient choice on tap (No IPA for me), and the staff are welcoming and attentive. The dining room is comfortable and my (professional gardener) fellow diner was appreciative of the floral displays. We chose to eat in the sheltered patio in front of the Inn, and although our choices were not particularly complex, it is fair to say that all three of us enjoyed our meals, which were prepared by the landlord, who was filling in after dispensing with the services of his previous chef. What a come back. After a few bad meals recently, we heard the news of a new chef!! The food was exceptional, three courses each as perfect as the first. Value for money and perfect for children. Will definitely be coming back for more...
Booked in for a family birthday evening meal based on a good previous visit. Sorry to say we were very disappointed. The meals were poor standard and overpriced. For example, steaks were tough and chips were terrible. Service was inattentive , lacking attention to detail. Please Robin Hood, bit more effort required!
