Dear guest, Thank you for your 5* rating and your great review. Happy to hear that you appreciated the natural environment of Double Dutch Resort. I can assure you that in every season nature in Kamaraj Valley has a surprise for you but you was at the right time to enjoy the trek to the waterfall. I am pleased to read that after a stiff walk you enjoyed the good care of my staff. Kind regards and have a nice day. Gé Mol

My boyfriend and I spent 5 days at Doubledutch and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. Doubledutch was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet after visiting the busy cities in Tamil Nadu.
The hosts Gemma and Ge were very friendly and welcoming. It was great to have so many interesting conversations with them; we just felt like being with friends we had known for a while. Their staff is excellent too.
There are lots of beautiful spots to visit like the waterfall nearby or the temple on the hill.
The food was excellent! (and we can be quite picky ;)
All in all we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying there.

I'm so glad we found and chose to stay here. We originally planned three nights but then came earlier so stayed for five in total. I'm so glad we did this but to be honest we'd have been happy to stay even longer.
If, like us, you're feeling a bit washed out from the noise etc. of Indian cities, then this place is like balsam for the soul. Not only are Gemma and Ge really great hosts, they're also very laid back. After a couple of days we felt more like friends than paying guests.
There's so much to do (trips through the mountains, walks to waterfalls/temples/the lake) but maybe the best thing to do is just relax in the hammock by the lake. It's paradise for nature and bird/animal lovers.
And the food was just fantastic, every day. The South Indian breakfast I had there was the best I had in 5.5 weeks in India.

Kamarajar dam, 5km from athoor, which is about 15 km from Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, is an ideal place for a short getaway. the resort is on the banks of the reservoir of the dam, surrounded by pure nature, greenery, hills, birds and lots of fresh air. Balraj,Ramya and their team, who are taking care of the resort, showed excellent hospitality. the food was wholesome and palatable. The rooms in the main block (villa flamboyant) were spacious, neat and modest, though the presence of insects occasionally remind us that we,humans have encroached into their ecosystem and not the other way. Availability of hot water in the restroom was patchy but the food was served on time, every time. One can spend time reading, nature gazing, and long walks. The trek to the sadayndi temple involves 30 minutes of tough rocky path, uphill, and is only for those who are physically fit and have an adventurous streak in them.the Wi-Fi in the reception area helps pass time. Mobile network is scanty. Altogether, this is an ideal place to recharge.

Celebrated New Year at this resort situated in the midst of nature. Loved the greenery in and around the resort. The rooms were spacious. Must visit for people seeking peace and relaxation of mind. Nearby lake, waterfall, temple etc give charm to this place.
The food was great and very cheerful staff. They make bread & fruit jams themselves which is perfect breakfast. You also have choice of other south Indian dishes from their menu.
Will be visiting again for longer vacation. Recommended for family and bachelors both.
We also had swim in house pool and sat near the lake to have a wonderful view of the hills and banana fields.

Many of us would have the experience of an exhausting vacation, at a crowded tourist resort, which would have left you wondering whether it was worth your time and money. At these times, you would deeply yearn for a quiet place, tucked away in an unexplored corner where you could really relax and enjoy nature at its best.
The Double Dutch Resort at Athoor would fulfill this wish and much more. It was just too good to be true and when we left, we were determined to keep going back there.
The first thing that strikes you is the absolute serenity of the resort set against the stunning backdrop of the lake. There is hardly anybody around and the only sounds you hear are the bird calls. My wife captured some of the best bird pictures - an amazing 30-odd species in the 3 days we stayed there.
There are any places to trek around near the lake and a lot of other resorts nearby (Kodaikanal is less than 3 hours away). But you don't feel like going anywhere. Sitting on the porch and staring at the lake for hours can be so relaxing!!
But the best part is the amazing hospitality of the Dutch couple who run this resort. We really enjoyed the superbly cooked meals (and what variety!) and the long conversations we had with them. They were very helpful and courteous and quickly became good friends. One felt more at home than in a resort.
The rates are very reasonable and there are excellent staff to help you for anything you need. I strongly recommend this place. It will leave you with good memories and you will wish to go back many times....even if it is just to meet two lovely people.

Location is good. And this is the only positive aspect.
Hospitality was not up to the mark. It is neither a homestay where the owners make you feel home neither a hotel/resort where hospitality is the priority.
Food was not good. Dinner was north indian and it was really bad. Staff were receptive and quickly waived off the cost. However, it doesn't help make your stay pleasurable.
Swimming pool was not functional.
This is the first time when our experience doesn't correlate with TripAdvisor reviews. We somehow kept waiting for the hospitality and warmth that is mentioned in multiple review. May be it is just for foreign tourists.

Awesome place with stunning view of lake with mountains in the backdrop. You just can't take your eyes off this view. Friendly staff and helpful manager. Owned by a Dutch couple, extremely happy to see their liking for India. Proud. Food was good except few items, be specific with chef how you want the north indian dishes to be prepared. South Indian items were yumm, soft phulkas, tasty chutneys and sambar, friendly chef who even let me cook in the kitchen. They have lot of rooms with different view but the best is where you get to see lake with mountains in the background. Louwve this place and will visit again.

We took an overnight bus to reach Dindigul from Bangalore. It arrived rather early in the morning at 4:30 am. We took an auto to reach Double Dutch Resort. We were a little jittery until we reached the resort. But once we reached it, we had a fantastic time.
The morning sunrise lit up the lake against the backdrop of the lovely hills. The beautifully preserved weavers nests were full of activity. Amidst birdsongs, lake and the hills it was a brilliantly orchestrated, beautiful musical sunrise.
The staff was extremely attentive. We drank copious amount of chai watching just staring at all the beauty in front of us. We had a good hearty breakfast and took some long walks around the place.
There are plenty of things you can do there - Trek to the waterfalls, trek around the lake, watch the bats colony, bike around the hills and so on.
Or you can just choose to read a book by the lake or stare dreamily from a hammock listening to bird songs.
We really loved the place and would love to come back there.
Thanks for being an amazing host - Ge' Mol and Gemma!

Dear friends, it was a big pleasure to have you as our guests and exchange our travel and life experiences. Thank you for your kind words in your review. The lake is still at a good level because of some good showers but is is possible now to walk a big part along the border in both sides. The Malabar giant squirrels are settling well in our tamarind tree and become nearly like domestic pets. Nice we could also connect on Facebook. Hope we meet again in near future. All the best with best wishes from Gemma, Gé and the whole Double Dutch crew: http://doubledutchresort.com/hhsmoelenboek2015.jpg
