After a 3/4 day hiking, it was great to end up at Yunominesou. Staff welcomed us at the entrance. Orderly places our shoes against our room number. Showed us the onsen, restaurant, our rooms. The moment we entered our room, a hot pot of tea was ready for our consumption. The room was Japanese style tatami mat, big enough for...

I just stayed at Yunominesou for one night (last night, actually), but had such an amazing time there and enjoyed every minute. The ryokan is quite big and has a lot of fun options in the building such as private onsen on the property (just make sure it's unoccupied and then change the sign to show that you're in there!)...

We stayed for 2 nights(11-12 Oct) along the Kumano Kodo trail. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, The hotel manager,Yano san was very helpful that he offered to drive us to the village for sight-seeing. On our departure, he also drove us down to the bus-stop and offered advice on the bus services available. The rooms are spacious,...

The staff at Yunominesou (which is the correct spelling) was absolutely wonderful and we were really positively surprised by the quality of the food. Very tasty and interesting combination of courses! The onsen bath was so comfortable and nice! This is a great place to stay during a hike on the Kumano Kodo trail.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a solo female traveler while trekking the Kumano Kudo. The breakfasts and dinner were fantastic! After your bath, put on your yukata and enjoy a multi-course meal. Plum wine made from onsen water. Locally-sourced fish grilled at your table. Nabe and sashimi. I would travel to Wakayama just to experience the...

Kindly picked us up from Kumano Hongu Taisha. Loved the large room with bathroom and toilet and lovely view and sitting terrace. Food was the best in a guesthouse, sadly we still can't get to like tofu or salt plums! Both dinner and breakfast were a feast for the eye and well described by our waitress. Lots of Japanese guests...

We arrived in Yunomine by car, and were welcomed very warmly, just in time for diner. The diner was excellent, very exciting and plenty for sure. All of this served and explained by Yano, who certainly made our stay extra special with his excellent care, good humour and friendliness. The baths (our first onsen experience) were fantastic, especially since we...

We walked from chikatsuyu to Yunomine which was a mission. When we arrived it was dark and this tiny mountain village was lit up like somewhere magical. Take away a couple of electric lights and the cold drink vending machine and you are back in time. It is narrow, only a few houses wide which straddles the boiling hot river...

This Ryokan is outside the town of Yunomine. Perched on top of a small mount surrounded by nature. Run by a second generation management team. The service was impeccable and courteous. They went beyond their normal duty to try to help us which we appreciated dearly. Public transportation to other places was timely but not as frequent as you may...

The service at Yunomineso exceeded any expectations given the reasonably priced rooms. We came to this area with little knowledge of what to expect, and have been surprised at every turn how magical this area is. The Yunomineso staff were very friendly and helpful, always trying their hardest with the language barriers and trying to make us feel welcome. The...
