My wife and I stayed here for a night in early Dec 2016 after having spent a few days in Fukuoka and Saga. We had been to a number of mid-range to high end onsen hotels around Japan before. This one is not the best we have stayed in, but it surely pleasantly surprised us. The hotel is located up...

I booked 2 meals 1 night plan through their website. It is in the mountain, you need to drive or get a taxi to go there. We selected "Chef Special Dinner Plan". The dinner was wonderful, full of surprise. The hotel provides free tickets to Mifuneyama Garden. Feel great to take a walk there.

After arriving at Takeo Onsen Station, my wife and I hopped a taxi to Mifuneyama Kanko Hotel. The taxi fare was less than 1,000 Yen. We were immediately greeted at the hotel entry way and asked to be seated in the lobby as the receptionist prepared our registration form and room key. We were served tea and senbei with an...

We were greeted with welcoming tea and sweet biscuits upon arrival to this large hotel. We checked into the huge tatami style ‘Oimatsu’ room with antique fixtures and balcony, and also leading to an enclosed garden with pond. The wooden bathtub in room did not run with spring water and the shower head did not run properly with cold water...

We were late checking in (6 pm), but the staff (as most of Japan excels at) was very patient, gracious, helpful and receptive. They love what they do and really enjoy helping people and seeing them happy. While we checked in, we had tea and some cool fresh wet towels for hands/face, and a treat. They carried our luggage to...
