The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa is a family-friendly resort where luxury is expressed through a caring spirit and thoughtful hotel amenities. Our Nago resort is just moments away from Japan's Kise Beach with indoor and outdoor pools and set amid the championship golf course at Kanehide Kise Country Club, resort guests will discover a true escape.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We enjoyed a relaxing and pleasant three days at the Ritz Carlton. We were cared for by hotel staff in every possible way during our visit. The general manager, Koji, was extraordinarily attentive, as was Laurent, director of operations, Christy, and Naoki, supervisor food and beverages. Every time we needed something one of these individuals jumped to our assistance. We felt completely spoiled and quite overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness of the staff.
It is true that food and drinks are expensive at the resort, but we found that this cost was somewhat balanced by a reasonable room rate. We enjoyed a champagne reception where we met staff and other hotel guests.
Valet parking and spa use were included (and the spa was exceptional) but electric bikes were an additional charge. In spite of temperatures in the high twenties, the outdoor pool was disappointingly closed in November , though the indoor pool and outdoor hot tub remained open.
The hotel is set back peacefully from the busyness of the road, perched in the hills with golf course views and the ocean not far off. The hotel style is modern Japanese with gorgeous high wooden ceilings, lovely decor and artwork. The hotel design frequently offers vistas in four directions from common areas like the bars, restaurants, many patios, and the lobby, all with a cool breeze blowing through the open sliding doors.
Suites are roomy and lovely. Beds are comfortable. Make sure to get an upper level room for better views.

I stayed here only for a night but it really gives me a great impression. Location-wise, it's quite far from the main city Naha, Nago also doesn't offer much city life as it's mainly residential. So you need to know that this resort is mainly for those people who wants a quite getaway, away from the crowds, away from everything. A bonus if you a fan of golf, the greenfields here looks amazing. My detailed reviews:
1) Location: As i have mentioned, this resort is secluded but still accessible. Public transit is slow and takes a lot of time from Naha. Private transfer can be faster although it's going to be expensive, but if you travel with groups and families, I think it's better to go with the private transfer. Don't expect any shops or stores here, you definitely going to be limited with options from the resort (don't worry, there are decent options you can have here)
2) Lobby/Reception: The lobby area can be a bit confusing, but rest assured you won't get lost because the concierge team will be happy to guide you to the reception area. The lobby lounge has a nice view of the green fields, the reception area is also nice with comfy seating.
3) Room: The room is really spacious. The ocean view from the balcony is really nice, sadly it mostly cloudy and rainy during our stay, so we don't spent much time in the balcony area because it can get wet and slippery. I appreciate plenty of storage space to store luggage, clothing, etc. both in the bedroom and bathroom area. The bathroom is nice, huge, good lighting, and the bathroom amenities is top notch! Room amenities also decent, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed also comfortable. In the evening, everything just so quiet and peaceful, and I have no complain or whatsoever.
4) Gusuku: We had dinner here at the restaurant. I wish the dinner menu has more options, it's a bit limited between Japanese and Italian, however the taste is decent. The drink options are quite extensive though which is nice. The dining experience was really peaceful, there was a musical performance as well which elevated our experience. Breakfast also served in this restaurant, while the selection is fairly limited, it still has everything that I want and the ingredients quality is really good. Service that offered from the associates at the restaurant also very good with warm and friendly smile.
5) Other aspects: The public bath is nice, especially the amenities that they offered is top notch. It was my first time doing public bath like this but the associates are really helpful guiding me on what to do as well explaining the etiquette. I had a bit of issue with my locker, but the associates are very responsive and manage to resolve my issue. The size is not that big, but luckily there was not many people at that time so I can enjoy comfortably. The sauna room also very quiet at that time.
The overall service, including the turndown service, they are really great. All the associates here are nice, friendly, they won't be hesitate to help with whatever you need to ensure the comfort of your stay.

We are really lucky to come to have one night Accommodation in Ritz Carlton Okinawa because we can meet the most amazing hotel captain we ever met - Ayaka Ishiguro.
She treated us so good and took care of us down to very small details and She always took long distance to greet us or escort us to hotel entrance during our stay. :)
My daughter's head had recovered soon from her head bump becoz of your timely supply of iced pack.
The property itself is amazing too. Our room is very clean and well maintained. The whole environment is very beautiful and is surrounded with an atmosphere of serenity.
Our reservation included the club lounge experience and it is amazing. The food is very nice and the club offered wide choice of snacks & beverages. The wine is of high quality brand and thus the whole experience definitely worth the price.
We definitely recommended the hotel to both family and couples for long vacation or short trip.

It wasn't bad overall, but it might be a bit questionable considering the Ritz-Carlton brand.
This is my third Ritz-Carlton, and my second Ritz-Carlton resort, including Laguna Niguel in the US.
There were a lot of families with children, so it had a family-friendly atmosphere. The clientele and atmosphere were different from the Ritz-Carlton in the US.
[Arrival - Check-in]
When you arrive, your car will be stored in the valet parking lot.
The welcome drink is champagne or a citrus drink.
They explain a lot of things when you check in, but their voices are so quiet that you can't hear them very well.
I didn't understand the explanation about breakfast, so I asked, "So basically you can go without a reservation, but you can only make reservations outside of 8-9 o'clock?" and they said yes.
When I looked at the paper I was given again before going to bed, it said that reservations were required for some hours, and when I called the front desk, they said that reservations were required outside of 8-9 o'clock.
I thought that was wrong, but they made a reservation for me and everything was fine.
[Room escort]
Two people guided me to the room, but they didn't walk ahead of me, didn't explain what I needed, and couldn't speak politely.
The escort made me think they were university students working part-time.
When I asked for an explanation of the room, they only explained that the refrigerator was charged and the turndown service...I felt a bit disappointed.
[Room]
It was cleaned well and the facilities were sufficient.
They provided a bag, beach sandals, and a hoodie for when I went to the pool.
They replenish towels and equipment used during turndown and cleaning. The TV was old.
[Restaurant]
The staff from check-in to escort was a bit iffy, so I only used it for breakfast.
The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of Okinawan dishes.
[Pool]
It's not big, but there is one.
You can order drinks by the pool.
The staff are kind.
Many people come with children.
The spa building has an indoor pool and a jacuzzi.
[Spa]
There is a sauna, a rock sauna, and a bath.
Since children are not allowed inside, not many people were using it, so I was able to relax.

Bay Deluxe Twin with Club Lounge Access. We stayed in room 531 for three days and two nights. The welcome drink can be chosen from two types: champagne or shikusa juice. The champagne glass has the Ritz-Carlton logo, and the Ryukyu glass is very nice and the taste was refreshing and very delicious. There is a coffee machine near the front desk. It is free.
The room is spacious, and the drapes and lace curtains can be opened with the push of a button. The view is great, and you can see the East China Sea right in front of the Kise Country Club. It was impressive that they took off their shoes when explaining the room.
The beach sandals were only available in sizes L and S, and the size did not fit, so I asked the front desk for two L sizes, but I received two S sizes. Maybe they didn't have my size...
There were no welcome sweets in the room, and when I checked with the front desk, I was told that I could not get them unless I was a Marriott member. This was my first time experiencing something like this, so I was surprised.
It takes 20 to 30 minutes to get to the convenience store from the hotel. There was no free shuttle bus, so we just walked. If you use the bus, I recommend buying it at the airport.
For breakfast, you can choose between a Japanese or Western set menu at the Club Lounge or the buffet at All Day Dining Gusuku.
I wanted to eat authentic Okinawan food, so I had breakfast at Gusuku every morning.
In the live kitchen, they make special egg dishes for you on the spot.
I recommend the Okinawan Eggs Benedict.
There was a wide variety and it was very delicious.
The Club Lounge had very few dishes, which was disappointing. I was really looking forward to it after watching a YouTube video in advance... They explained the difference between the regular key and the Club Lounge key, but I didn't really understand it.
Overall, the staff didn't explain much, and the price wasn't worth it.

I was looking forward to this as the main event of my trip to Okinawa.
The building and the food were wonderful.
However, I think the satisfaction level was extremely low, considering the high price.
・Marriott Bonvoy benefits have been significantly downgraded.
・Private beach has been abolished.
・Poolside drink service for lounge guests has been abolished.
・Previous guest's breast pads were still stuck on the tree on the terrace.
・Food and drink stock in the lounge has been significantly reduced.
I had heard that the snacks were especially great, but they were completely useless.
・The service was all too slow.
・The TV was old, and internet videos were not available these days.
・There was too little fruit at the breakfast buffet.
The worst part was the attitude of the staff (especially the foreign female staff member O, who was from Korea? China? who answered the phone).
Is it really okay to have such a person answer the phone at a top-class hotel? No matter what I ask, the first thing she says is "Hmm...". Cold and gloomy, are they motivated?
It seems that the rumors that the Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is of a lower standard than other Ritzes were true. I don't think it was worth the price. I don't think I'll stay here again.

But I had to wait a long time in the lobby to check in, and the female staff's explanation was haphazard.
I was finally shown to my room, but the card key wouldn't open, and the bellboy's spare key wouldn't open it either. Another staff member brought the master key and finally opened it, but the inner door guard was on, and it was immediately slammed shut from the inside.
Yes, I opened the door to a room where another guest was staying.
First of all, it's impossible to get the room number wrong, and the bellboy should have noticed when the key wouldn't open.
I didn't want to stay on the same floor as him, thinking that he had seen my face from inside.
The sheets weren't changed when the bed was made, and no matter how many times I asked, there was no clothing in the wrong size, so I don't know how many times I called the front desk.
Also, it was unpleasant that guests on the same floor put their trash outside the door every day.
Why should I stay at such a luxury hotel and see other guests' trash? Also, when I went to the spa, I didn't have my room key and was locked out, so I asked the spa receptionist to contact my friend at the pool. I thought she would call right away, but after serving the person behind me and talking to the staff in casual language, I finally called, but she said something in casual language and sloppy: "Something about XX in room XX wants XX to come over here. Can you pass on the message?" I wonder if all Ritz-Carltons are like this? Well, I made sure they called, so I went to the key and waited for my friend, but he never came. After waiting outside the door for about 15 minutes, another guest came, so I went inside and went to my friend by the pool, but he was asleep and the message hadn't been passed on. I guess it was my fault for forgetting the card key, but when I looked later, there was no sign on the door (inside) that said you couldn't re-enter without the card key, so I thought I was really uninformed. Overall, I noticed that the female staff at this hotel were not very tense. Are the female staff part-timers and not full-time employees? There were some great staff members, but overall it seemed like most of them were young and inexperienced. Thankfully, the woman who cooked the teppanyaki and the foreign restaurant manager were excellent. The room was also nice. However, since we basically ate at the restaurants, we didn't need a ``too much'' lounge that you had to pay to use, so it would have been nice to have a lounge where we could relax for a bit.

Booked two rooms, each under FHR with our Amex Platinum cards. I am also titanium elite. We got upgraded but not upgraded to a suite or club room. I’ve only lucked out once getting a complimentary upgrade to a suite at a ritz once and it was in US. Your status doesn’t get you anywhere at ritz. The sweet lady who checked us in, did offer us a choice of complimentary drinks, valet parking, etc and she suggested drinks because they were pricey. Valet here was only 3,000 yen.
From start to finish, this hotel offered true five star service. From delicious drinks while checking in to making sure your bags are already loaded in your car before you step out of the hotel…. It was definitely more than we expected!
Amenities were endless…. Box of chocolates, pajamas, bath robes, bath salts for the tub, two types of slippers(flip flops and really soft slip ons, full size European toiletries, turn down even included a small bottle of essential oil.
For dinner, the kids had room service which cost about 75 bucks (included room service). My husband ordered us two glasses of champagne which cost 7,000 yen. Meanwhile, my husband and I had reservations at KISE and it cost about 550,000 yen for just the two of us. Dinner cost more than our room rate. The chef who cooked our dinner seemed tired, a bit slow, and did not look like he enjoyed his job. Maybe because it was late? For the price, would have wanted a more enthusiastic person cooking in front of us. Service was on point though because the staff refilled drinks as soon as I took my last sip. They really do take care of you!
We then moved to the lounge where we ordered two drinks that costs us almost a 100 bucks. Almost smacked my husband for ordering a drink that costs around 7,500-8,000 yen.
For breakfast, the five of us enjoyed the buffet, complimentary due to FHR/ titanium status. Buffet was amazing and had Japanese/American breakfast! Tons of options. They even served a variety or fresh juices. I was happy also happy to see that they had different fruits to include dragonfruit.
For lunch, we had afternoon tea which costs about 4500 per person. This is a must!! It was delicious!
Overall, great stay. Will come back. Everyone was so kind!! It was definitely a treat.

The Ritz Carlton Okinawa is a spectacular property with a wonderful team. The property itself has a beautiful Japanese decor and well laid out rooms. The cabana room on the ground floor is very nice with an outdoor jacuzzi which is a very nice feature. The club lounge is gorgeous and has a nice variety of food and drinks including a pizza oven which is the first we have seen in a Ritz club lounge. The restaurants on property are superb. Kise, the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant was amazing. The chef prepared sumptuous and creative dishes in front of you. It was my wife's favorite meal of the 20 dinners we had in Japan. We also tried the Italian restaurant which was incredible too. Executive Chef Marcello prepared an off menu pasta that my wife was craving which is the best pasta she has ever had. The waiter Arnauld provided great service. The eggs Benedict and the entire breakfast Buffett was very good. The loyalty manager Ms. Kaneko was very helpful suggesting some fun activities for us during our stay. The leadership team at the property is one of the best teams across the 1,600 nights we have stayed at luxury properties. The GM Mr. Sasaki is top notch. He is very responsive, pro active, and very talented. The Director of F&B Mr. Inoue is equally impressive. He greeted us upon our arrival and ensured everything went very well upon checkin and getting to our room. We had some wonderful notes, amenities, and a beautiful gift in our room all of which we genuinely appreciated. Throughout our stay both of them continuously checked in on us to ensure all was well. Even before the stay both of them were very helpful, helped arrange transportation to the hotel, made helpful suggestions, and checked in on us multiple times going above and beyond what you ever expect from a hotel. It is truly impressive the combination of a beautiful property, well executed service in all facets of the stay across multiple departments, all led by a very talented management team makes this property quite special. We encourage anyone coming to Okinawa to stay at this fantastic property as you will not be disappointed!

This was my 3rd time staying in the same hotel in Okinawa but it was my worse experience ever. My stay was between 11-15 September and my booking was a cabana room. I am a smoker, during check in, I was being told that my room was a smoking room (quite surprise), so, during the stay, I smoke e-cigarette inside the room. However, upon check out, I was told that I need to pay the penalty due to I smoked inside the room, I was quite shocked. Since I need to go to the airport, I didn’t argue with the staff and paid ¥54K for the penalty. Actually, at that moment, I was very upset and had the feeling of being cheated and robbed. Other than that, the overall environment is still good, the Kise teppanyaki is still very delicious.

No club, but I really liked the bar - it's open till about 11pm during the week and 1am on the weekend.
Nice and calm, with some private spaces that have balcony access.
