Hinoharu is a small hot spring hotel off the main shopping street and behind the hotel is a quiet village by the canal. I stayed in the hotel for three nights and I could hardly see other guests although they were quite full. Everything is so private, from dining to using the onsen. Breakfast was served at either 8:00 or...

We were received with warm welcome on arrival. With just 11 rooms, Hinoharu is quiet and cosy. We dined in private dining room both dinner and breakfast. Food presentation was traditional Japanese. Quantity and quality was just right. The use of onsen was never crowded. Our room on the ground floor looked out to a tiny Japanese garden, but inside...

Everything is more than perfect. The ryokan was beautifully zen style designed with spacious common area and garden for guest's privacy. The bed room is also spacious with living zone to enjoy garden view. Toilet and bathroom is also separate. We love the bath tub with gather view. We had half board package so we had a great enjoyed their...

We went to Yufuin for one night and decided to stay in this small Onsen hotel with 11 rooms. We paid extra to have our own private onsen (there're only 2 rooms with private Onsen, room #13 and 16 on the ground floor). The room rate included dinner, breakfast and the Onsen facilities. Dinner was awesome and it's such a...

An authentic Japanese experience. Dinner and breakfast were sublime and something we will always remember. The service by the staff was exceptional and responsive. The scenery in Yufuin was very relaxing and the location of this resort is prime and central yet still quiet in the rooms and gardens. Room is very comfortable with traditional Japanese tatami mats, small table...

My husband and I stayed for 1 night at Hinoharu in Dec. Its a decent family run ryokan with not much grounds and although there are 2 outdoor onsens that is private ( as you indicate its in use by turning a card on the door), there is no view. That is because the ryokan is right off the main...

Good service. High privacy. You can eat in a separated dining room. Food is quite good and the server is lovely (even though i cannot understand Japanese) Staff can speak minimal English so still can communicate well. Room is super nice and spacious and of course very clean and tidy. There is a family hot spring so you can enjoy...

I stayed four nights in the Hinoharu. For me, it was the first time ever to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel - without "real" beds. I loved it. I could sleep extremely well and I highly recommend to take an Onsen (which are open-air! :) )before going to bed because it is so relaxing. For those who do not...

The room I chose is quite spacious with private shower. The service was great. There's a girl that is responsible for our room, so she'll take care of everything including making the beds and serving dinner in the room & breakfast in the dining room. The meals are good. There's 2 family onsens outdoor and also shared onsens, all are...
