Echo with all positive reviews! The staff who took care of us during our stay understands basic English. View of the private outdoor onsen is simply beautiful, breathtaking! If you have chance do try traveling to Yufuin via the scenic train - Yufuin no Mori.

It was “that picture” I saw each time I searched for Yufuin onsen that made me seek and seek until I found that that view was from Musouen. The hotel is located on a hill south of the Yufuin town center. The ground was surrounded by lush green trees and moss. The hotel buildings were low-rise and very natural. There... More

This is a basic fee taxi from Yufuin Station. I visited this place twice. Once staying in ryo-ka, Once using spa . I think that Spa better than ryo-kan. Large bath scenery is amazing. You will see Yufuin Mt in large bath.

Stayed in end March and throughly enjoyed this onsen. It is away from the main town of Yufuin so best if you have your own car. The the service is impeccable and all the staff make us feel welcomed. Some staff speaks english but even for the ones that do not, it doesn't stop them from being most helpful. The... More

Oita is known for the millions of hot spring ryokans and Musouen in Yufuin is a very nice ryokan in this onsen town. The food (dinner) is great but the baths, especially the roten-buro or the outside baths are unbelievable. Yufuin was not famous until recent time but the onsen village is now known as one of the most popular... More

Many hotels in Yufuin have in-room private onsen, but Musouen has the biggest outdoor onsen in the area. That is the reason I chose this hotel. My husband and I stayed there for two nights in a standard Japanese room. We took a taxi from the train station to reach the hotel. The fare was 700 yen. If you want... More

This is a Japanese style onsen hotel. We had a huge room at the relatively new side building, with its small onsen indoor bath. The public outdoor baths for men and women (separate) are spacious and have fantastic views of the Yufudake mountain. There are two private outdoor baths with mountain view and free access. The outdoor baths are so... More

Stayed here one night for hot spring. The hot spring is ok but not the best I have experienced , yet the food was great and delicious. Yummy Japanese cuisine with great service. Room is spacious with fabulous view of the city but with no WiFi in room. Staff were helpful and friendly, my friend left behind her phone when... More

We spent one night here. Our 8-tatami room (with ensuite toilet) was comfortable and had a lovely view out across Yufuin to the hills. The shared outdoor onsen (both men's and women's) were stunning, with great views. We also used one of the private outdoor onsen, which was also nice but without so much of the view. Our dinner was... More
