We stopped here for lunch. Our set menu was huge - tempura vegetables, rice, noodles and pickles. You are sat in a traditional room, on the floor. It was very enjoyable and tasty as well as good value.

Hida Tomoe mighg look like a three star hotel but when you are in you feel so warmly welcomed that you feel in luxury one! Breakfast and dinner are delicious,in japanese style in a tatami room by the fireside. We tasted many regional specialities, everything was delicious and nicely prepared and served. Thumb up for Hida Tomoe!

Nice hotel in lovely village. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Diners and breakfasts are surprisingly elaborate. So many different dishes, all fresh and tasty. Good place to try the regional specialities.

Our favourite stay in Japan. It s such a quiet little town, an excellent place to stay for site seeing of takayama. We loved the amazing dinners serviced in the private dining area. The internet is also great quality ( despite the website saying 'no internet available'. As always in Japan the service is very warm and impeccable. We definitely...

This hotel is situated 3 minutes walk from the town train and bus station. The owner and most of the staff do not speak much English but they are very helpful, extremely friendly and will try to understand what you mean. Check in is from 3 pm and you need to tell them what time you want to have dinner...

Nice and Japanese-style perfectly designed family hotel. In the center of the cute village of Furukawa. Everything in the room is right in place so you immediately fill at home. For us, the good mattress was very important. Breakfast is very special and in the private elegant traditional tatami rooms.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel when the town was in the midst of preparations for the Furukawa Matsuri on the 19th and 20th April. Hotel Tomoe was our first experience of Japanese style accommodation which included breakfast and dinner and sleeping on futons on tatami mats. We were delighted with the size of the room, the welcome and...

I ‘m from Taiwan, we stayed there on 11/3, I never written a review for hotel before, and this is my first time to write it. First, I always choose 5 stars hotel when I travel in Japan. My boyfriend doesn’t know that, so he ordered the hotel this time and I felt like hmm ok. When I arrived there,...

“thanks to the nicest English local guide Kumiko Iwathuka that helped us with the hotel, after the bad experience we had the night before in Pension (so called) Yuki. It was nice to talk English. She lives in the town and can take you on tours in the area. Don't miss the Sakura park along the river 5 km on the way to Takayma, especially during the weekends Hanami.”
