We have stayed at Villa delle Rose several times. It's a solid hotel with clean rooms, attentive staff and close proximity to Pescia which is a charming town. We have found this hotel to be well-located and reasonably priced for the area. If you're thinking about visiting Lucca, it's an easy 20-minute drive away.
We came the two of us for dinner on a warm Thursday evening in August. We were seated outside in the garden in a classic stylish setting. Friendly staff in black and white. We enjoyed local specialties like thinly sliced beef with gorgonzola. This came with an excellent red local Cervatejo 2016 from Buonamico, Monte Carlo. A premium Grappa rounded the excellent dinner. We ll come back for a longer stay at this classic hotel- restaurant in the heart of Tuscany.
Another excellent stay in this lovely hotel with friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. The restaurant is beautiful and the food very tasty using local produce. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they make you feel that you are important. The hotel is 5 minutes from the station which gives you access to Viareggio on the coast,Lucca with its lovely shops and restaurants Florence and Pisa as well as the beautiful spa town of Montecatini.
This hotel is centrally located in Tuscany. Location is near Lucca, Florence, Parco di Pinocchio and beach resorts. Also the Villa Garzoni and gardens are nearby! A must see! The food is delicious at the on-site restaurant.
We spent four nights at the Villa delle Rose hotel in Pescia. We had been there two years prior and noticed that there had been some refurbishments done since our last stay. Some positives: Decent breakfasts with a good selection of savoury and sweet eats. Quiet surroundings, as it’s a bit off the beaten track. Train station nearby, making it relatively simple to get to Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Lovely pool area with apertivi and music every evening. Some negatives: No safe in the room! First hotel I’ve been to where there is no safe in the closet, which meant that we had to drag our valuables around with us, as the management doesn’t take responsibility for anything that is lost or stolen. No shower curtain/door in the bathroom. Quite bizarre since it’s recently been refurbished. I didn’t master the art of not wetting the bathroom floor while showering during our stay, so it was a bit of a mess and rather hazardous. Service was slightly lacking, seeing as it’s a four star hotel. No porters and we had to find our own room on arrival. Plus, the bathroom was not cleaned properly each day and we had to ask for replacement shower gels after the original ones finished, as no new ones were provided. Overall an adequate hotel if one needs to stay in the area for a couple of days and wishes to visit Tuscany’s famed cities. …
This is an old hotel and hence interior decor is dated. Our room was carpeted which is not something I prefer because it was feels dirty. However we had a balcony with Pool view, which was excellent. Level of service from the staff was quite different, and some of them seem quite stressed. The pool and the surrounding area was excellent. And exceeded our expectations. The pool have a decent size that allowed for laps and for the children to play. We had booked the hotel with halfboard and included welcome drinks and a bottle of Prosecco upon departure. The breakfast was decent with bread, A selection of cold cuts, croissants, Cakes, sweet bread, fruit, cereal and juice and coffee. Dinners where simple but good and included three-course dinner. Except for the fish I got one night which did not smell fresh. It is not located in the best and most interesting area of Tuscany but within reach of Bologna, Florence, Lucca, Pizza etc. Overall we were happy and content and wouldn’t mind to have stayed an extra few days.…
Another lovely visit to this beautiful hotel. It has all the charm and character of traditional Tuscan hospitality with log fires spacious dining areas and comfortable bedrooms. It’s strength however is the staff who are very professional yet friendly and cannot do enough to make the guests feel welcome. The food is very good and the house wine excellent coming as it does from local sources. It is well situated 5 minutes from the station which allows easy access to Florence,Lucca,Pisa and Viareggio to name but a few. This hotel is well worth visiting.
Staid 3 nights and I really wish we could have made it longer. The rooms are perhaps not so special, the pool is fine. The location is not remarkable. But the place is genuine and we had a tremendous time. The staff is professional, attentive and caring. Dinner in the restaurant, wine and dessert were wonderful. Yes the breakfast is simple. And be prepared for some pesky mosquitos evening time. But the hotel is great value, and I look forward to a return stay. Thanks to the staff for the fine visit, I felt at home !
We stayed in the Villa delle Rose after having to cancel our stay in a different hotel in Lucca for a reason I wll not get into on this review. We were attending the Elton John concert, so all the hotels in and around Lucca were full for the night of the concert. This hotel had one room avaiable but was `15 klm away from Lucca. It was also in a small town that was not very special or nice. Still the Hotel had a very large comfortable room and a nice swimming pool. The desk people were also very nice. The breakfast however was dependent on the time you arrived. They only filled some of the food once such as the eggs and if you arrived after it was finished then you were out of luck. That was a bit of a drag. Still the rest of the breakfast items were fresh and good. Also the price was very very reasonable for a 4 star hotel. Location sucked however.…
The rooms are clean and spacy. Our bathroom could have used a bit more ventilation and a more powerfull airconditioning would have been nice. However, the pool and breakfast were good. All in all, a decent hotel to stay a few days.
