The place is around 6km from Mandwa jetty and an auto ride will cost Rs 250. If you are interested in spending some quiet time away from the bustling Alibaug, then this could be a good choice. We visited on a weekday and there was no other booking. The charges for a day visit with room is Rs 1400 per head -- includes breakfast, lunch and tea. The charges for food only is Rs 1000 per head. The food was simple, but freshly cooked. The piping hot modaks with ghee are a must eat. You can also walk to the Awas beach from the back gate of the cottage and spend some time there too. Overall, good for a day visit.

While the prices have gone up but unfortunately the food and hospitality have gone down! This was perhaps my 3rd or 4th visit in the last 4 years as it was one of my favourite place to rejuvenate however this time it was disappointing to experience average food taste specially non-veg! Fried fish for lunch was totally below average (had to actually throw the food it was that bad!) & chicken for dinner was way beyond spicy, though few other items were much better. While the owners are still very kind but it seems the support staff are ruining the entire experience, feedback is taken as a complaint and with resistance. Staff starts arguing if you share negative feedback which is one of the most dangerous traits in hospitality industry. Hope they return to their lost glory again soon!

Response from vishwajit jogalekar, General Manager at Jogalekar Cottage
Responded 30 Oct 2022
We are sorry to here that you had not so good experience during your this visit. As far as our ethics are concerned, we have not at all downgraded any of our quality or service parameters. Some times it happens that few guest come with some self assumed ideas and expectations which sometimes doesnt exactly come into reality then the question of "disappointing experience " come into existence . The day you visit, lot of other guest had also visited , infact we had few guest who stayed for 5-6 days. Even they had wonderful stay. We will be sharing their review on social media soon. The most important thing which may people forget is asking or giving feedback to wrong person at wrong place. Whether good or bad Reception is the only legit place where any concern must be raised or informed. We trust all our staff hence it is hard to believe that our "staff argues". If still this is the case your concern was supposed to be informed in reception and not to the service boy or person. We always respect reviews either good or bad, but as you said lost glory, but I would correct you that the glory is not lost at all and this is just because of our staff.

This is the worst managed so called hotel. Service is pathetic, rooms are small and shabby, cleanliness is horrible, the bedsheets are not washed, no toiletries, no kettle in the room. The surrounding area is also very bad. The nearby beach which is Awas beach is secluded, dirty and rough. Don't waste your money on this property. There are no options for food in nearby vicinity so you have to eat at the hotel only, the breakfast is very basic, dinner too is pretty basic and the charges are high. The staff is rude, not helpful at all. Total waste of money all in all.

This resort is @ 15- 20years old. WE CHKD IN ON 7/11/2021 room no.4 in Madhuvan. Ac is good. but there is lots of noise from swimming pool behind & of other guests passing by. The hand shower is not working efficiently & the toilet paper roll Holder is corroded. The windows packed with cardboard pieces to stop outsiders from peeping in. Food is ok. BEST PART IS NO WIFI IN ROOM. There is no intercom in room & they want us to use intercom no. 99. Morning tea not in room. The bathtub is not for use.

Visited Jogalekar Cottages in March 2021. This place is simple, frills-free home stay type experience. Choose this for - fantastic food (the buffet serves unlimited amount of fried fish!) and proximity to the Awas Beach. All meanls were consistently good - breakfast, buffet lunch, dessert & dinner. They offered us chilled & yummy kokam sharbat on arrival which rejuvenated us. The property has a clean swimming pool as well. Awas Beach is a hidden gem - quiet and clean. Do not come here if you expect buggy rides and horse rides and games and bhel and other typical tourist stuff! Come to Awas for the pristine beach, solitude to enjoy the soothing sound of the waves. A 5-7 minutes walk from the Cottages gets you to the Awas Beach. You can also drive and park at the Awas Beach parking - which is just a minute from the beach. Jogalekar Cottages is about 30 mins from main Alibaug city. We chose the package of all meals + AC room. TV and AC both worked. There is a geyser for hot water - which also worked! Staff is polite and humble. Property is clean - rooms were spotless, common garden areas & dining hall was very clean too. The only reason I rate this 4/5 (and not 5/5) is the bathrooms - the bathrooms desperately need an upgrade. Looking forward to staying here again.
