This was one of the long weekends and as expected all the usual hotels in Yercaud were already booked. By some chance, we got information of the Wellington Hill Resort and luck was with us, as rooms were available and that too at affordable price. We booked a single bedroom cottage with A/C. This property has around 25 cottages of various sizes. This is a no frills property but has been maintained well (I suppose since its new, just a year old). The washrooms are neat and has hot water facility round the clock. But there is no concept of any room service though, there is a small restaurant attached with the property and it is quite understaffed. However you would get breakfast and meals for lunch and dinner in case you cannot go out (food is ok). This property doesnot have any spectacular views as has some of the other hotels in Yercaud, however this is located in a residential part of the town, walking distance from the famous Montfort School and not too far from the main city centre.
All in all I would say that at Rs 2000 for a independent cottage I was quite happy with this property.

I, wife and 9 year old son had fantastic weekend on June 8-10 at Wellington hill resort. Great relief from Chennai 44’c to around 18’c at resort ( as there was slight drizzling on that day). We reached there on 8th noon 1.30pm. Greeted by former Chennai mayor above to leave the cottage after a couple of days stay. Rooms are spacious but need to improve in cleanliness. Food have to be ordered 2 hrs in advance. Server bhai took care of us reasonably well. I took bicycle for my son but u can’t use it right in front of steeply down cottage. Carry mosquito bat to kill few king sized mosquitoes. Since the cottage is close to Montfort school try to visit which we missed due to technical reasons. Have a good morning walk around cottage. Attendants said ideal time to visit mid June-sep as tourist inflow is less.No good restaurants nearby so have to depend on cottage served food only. Ok, but north Indians may not like the menu. Nothing much in yercaud other than boating in the lake, visited couple of temples, rose garden etc

Its OK for to stay, nothing much special about it. Yes one good thing is you will get a 2 room apartment with hall & balcony attached to it. breakfast time is very limited. Little far from city center. around 2 kms from the lake. Rooms were clean and spacious.

The resort was a kind of individual villa depending on the number of people. They provide us the villa depending on the number of people. The room size is large & maintenance is average. Service is too bad. Restaurant is poorly maintained. The person working there is not friendly & initially they gave me a discounted price for two nights. At the time of check out, they said they would charge me the actual cost & we had a very bad argument with them on the pricing. Even if you visit this place, please be aware that you get the discounted price in the receipt when you checkin.

We stayed here for one night. Although the rooms are not very clean, it is value for money as the room rate came to only Rs 1800 per night. If you are going in the cooler months (Oct, Nov, etc) carry a sweater with you, mornings and evenings can get cold.

It has been a good experience when I visited Yercaud on May 15-17 at this hotel.

The premises are average, and not that much clean. Especially the Restaurant!!
So go for room service always.. still the plates have to be washed again..

But the cottages have great privacy, and the place is very calm.

The room service from restaurant was good. And we never needed to call them for any sort of complaints!

Suitable for Friends, Couples and Families..

We were a group of friends, but a couple type too.. and there were a bikers gang as well as a ladies gang staying there same time, and another 2-3 families too..

We had a deluxe cottage (base). Its a value for money cottage than a more luxurious one.. though never lacks amenities like clean bed sheets, blankets, air conditioning, tv, heater, 2 bathrooms per cottage, sit out- dining table.. etc..

One more thing us that there are monkeys everywhere.. but they are afraid of us and stay away.. but nothing is untouched by them if we leave anything outside the cottage!! Its nice though!!

Just it was a nightmare.

Leeches 31 in number, caught from the room
Bed bugs
Damp walls and moist floors
Earth worms on carpets
Stained bedsheets
Boozed hotel staff who will make faces even if you approach them for a jug of water.

Tough place to stay. After our drive of 13 hours, which did not tire us down, the excruciating wait which we had for 1 hour to get the pre booked room was a hell.

Do not want to speak more ill about anything or any body.

Please be sure this place would spoil your holiday mood. Run by inhospitable bunch of ......... (if you wanna fill it properly, stay here)

hello every one. I went to Yercaud on a small weekend holiday with my family in July 2014.
the place is ok types and is good for a one or max two day trip. there is not much to c. but the climate was super cool. I enjoyed it very much. perfect for hanging out with family and friends and a great way to relax you mind and body. at Yercaud we stayed at Wellingtom Hill resort (WHR) and took a 3 bedroom cottage. cottage was very nice, clean and well maintained. WHR is also having a very very small restaurant which serves limited items. but what ever they serve you is good in taste and very light on stomach. if you want you can also ask for room delivery (this is what most of the people will do). the cottage is just like a house and if you are in a big group it is perfect as you all can enjoy like any thing and stay together. if you are travelling with your own vehicle then you can even park you car/bike just out side your cottage. the only problem that we faced was of power cut. the time when I visited there was no power, this was a bit inconvenient. rest all was super and good for a weekend breakthrough. (don't plan more than 1.5 days). Cottage rental (4200 per day for 3 bedroom cottage) and food cost is not to much and is worth spending.

Pros:

The rooms are big and clean. In fact, very big and can accommodate a big family.

Cons:

Slightly away from the centre, but can manage if you have your own car. Also, you have to cross the main road(more like a market road) before reaching the Montfort school which is narrow and filled with vehicles.

You might have difficulty in parking the car as the cottages are placed on a slope. Sometimes, there might be others who have parked in your space!

Food had to be planned in advance by giving a notice... we didn't bother trying it out and took it from Shevaroy's restaurant where the food was good.

Intercom had some issues because of which the phone kept ringing and had to be kept off the hook to sleep peacefully.
