We’ve discovered here we were slowly going direction “Mature couple”. As much as we liked the incredible stone construction, with beautiful hallways, the incredible scenery and the so welcoming and warm contact with Mary, we had difficulties with quite a bit of lack of cleanliness (Well, Mary told us she felt lazy that day…). That woman is so full of...

Great location, all rooms with views. Communal room was very nice and relaxing. Full facilities available. Beds were excellent - very clean and we slept well. Mary is FABULOUS. Nothing was too much trouble for either Mary or Leo. Best hospitality we have experienced.

The most atmospheric hostel in Ireland. It's old style, okay. But for people, who want a very special place to stay there is no better place they could find. It is one of the last reall hostels with hostel owners, who doesn't see there hostel to make money with but to help their guests to relax and to forget the...

The view you wake up to in the morning is amazing. The hostel is cleverly built to blend with the landscape. There are bed options or if you have a tent you can pitch outside. It is low cost. You should enjoy the conversation with the owners if you can't meet other guests:)

I loved staying in Dooey Hostel, the views from the rooms are outstanding, the facilities are good, kithcen and bathroom in each room, the beds are comfortable and warm. The best thing about this place is Mary. It's worth the trip just to meet her. You'll definitely enjoy your stay

This is definitely one of my favourite hostels in Ireland, or anywhere in the world for that matter! The location is stunning, great for walkers and hikers, and plenty of space for children to run around and go on adventures. The facilities are basic but ample: each of the 8-bed dorms has its own kitchenette, shower and toilet, while the...

I just love this place!! Although i do agree with a previous reviewer in saying that it is not for everyone. Mary and Leo (who run the hostel) are absolutely fantastic, there is never a dull moment. The hostel area is not up to much and its safety may be questionable but what it lacks here it certianly makes up...

The hostel is hard to find at first but on top of a big hill with an amazing view over the beach. The silence is unbelievable, just sheep and waves. Part of the inner wall of the hostel is actually bare rock face from the mountain. There are 3 pubs in the village so lots of nightlife if you want...

i love this hostel!!! the accomodations are quite spartan, to say the least, however this is one of the best place i've stayed in ireland. and there's only one reason..."mad" Mary O’Donnell!!! warmly welcomed with a pot of hot tea after a day of hiking, mary (the owner) kept us thoroughly entertained. this woman IS the definition of local color....
