The land and the property are beautiful! I loved that it was off the grid. My yurt was clean and comfy. It’s really too bad that it is so poorly run! Staff is practically nonexistent and the food was very mediocre. I was there for four days before they finally fixed my extr

This beautiful property was the site - and home - of a one-week retreat I attended, as part of a course I'm studying, and my course-mates came in from all over the world.
Jeannie and her amazing staff made sure our stay was an idyllic as possible.

Let me begin this review by saying that my step-daughter and I very much enjoyed this retreat. However, since it was not at all what we expected, I thought it would be helpful to clarify it further here.

Is it possible to purchase an evening meal in the restaurant w/o being a guest of the hotel?
Aloha, We appreciate your inquiry. Our food is excellent and it is possible to have dinner as long as we have a chef on duty that night and we have 24 hours advance notice. Mahalo! The Ohana at Hawaii Island Retreat

Is this a kid friendly hotel? It looks as though all the rooms are single rooms (no suites) and I'm wondering how it would be to stay here with a small very active toddler (18 mo old). Mahalo!
I think it would be fine. The pool doesn't have a fence, so if you go out there you'd have to keep an eye on him. Otherwise, I think it would not be problematic. Nice grounds.

Is it cold there in the evenings?
I was there in January and in the evenings I was fine in a light sweater. We had beautiful warm weather all the way through. :)
