This is a an excellent place to stay right in the middle of the Old Town. Ferries from/to Dubrovnik and Split also arrive and leave nearby. The house is medieval but the rooms are fully renovated and with air conditioning. The are many small restaurants on the nearby seaside street. Try the chocolate cake in "Popina" (Setaliste Petra Kanavelica, Ul. Sv Roka,).
We rented a flat for 1 1/2 months in Dubrovnik Old Town and decided to hop the ferry and spend a couple nights in Korcula Old Town for a less crowded experience and chose Maria's Place for our 2 nights accommodation. It's extremely easy to find; walk off the ferry, up the stairway entrance into the old town, continue straight to "Restaurant Maret", turn left then first right and there you are! Walk up to the 2nd floor (3rd floor for North Americans...) and enter the left door marked "Marias" and chose a room that has a key in the door (this is a selfserve establishment). The keys are in the doors of unoccupied units - we were late arriving and got the last room, the smaller unit #1 that was great with a queen size bed, opening shuttered windows looking down on the quiet alleyway below, small bar fridge with milk for your coffee or tea (kettle, cups, tea bags, instant coffee is all there), a 3 piece tiled bathroom with shower, shower gel and lots of towels and a super-efficient A/C. Unit #2 is bigger w/2 single beds that can go together to create a Kingsize bed and it has an outside balcony (#3 we never saw inside of). The location is ideal as you can literally step out onto the alleyways and have excellent eateries & wine bars steps away while swimming is only a few minute's walk. Clean, quiet, with comfortable mattress, this place ticked all the boxes and the central location cannot be beat. Enjoy.…
Good location in the heart of old town. Room was very basic but pretty clean except for a bit of mold in the shower. No outdoor space and the entry/common area could be updated. Was ok for the price. There is no guarantee of which room you will get upon booking and there was only 1 left when we arrived. I think it was the smallest of the 3 rooms. The front door is not locked and no one is on site. Only room can be locked so if I was traveling alone, I would not have liked that. Luckily, Korcula seems like a safe island much like the rest of Croatia.
Booked for one night, received an email with directions also stating that keys would be left out at 2pm. We arrived by boat from Dubrovnik at 0900hrs, left our luggage and explored the old town and visited a beach. We got back at 3pm to find only one key left. Room was clean, well stocked room with fridge, kettle, mugs, towels, shower gel, hand soap and even a tablet for use. Only downside was one of the shower doors in our room (2) was broke and never saw a member of staff to report this to. Fantastic location based in the heart of the old town, plenty to do and a very quiet location.
When you arrive you must walk up to the second floor and the door asks you to basically enter and choose your room. All rooms are similar but it is the location that is awesome. Right in the middle of the old town, it is close to everything! We had no problems check in /out, the place was a bit more expensive than other similar places we stayed in Croatia. The room has its own bath and fridge but outside still within the apartment there is a shared living room area where you can watch TV if you wanted.
What a gem at a very reasonable price. The location is excellent, in the centre of the Old Town. Close to brilliant restaurants, harbour, and all attractions. Room very spacious, very clean and big bathroom
Low-key, clean, sparse (the way we like things). 3 rooms, and you choose yours (if more than 1 is free). Great location, the perfect price, and wonderful restaurants all around us. We had a balcony where we had evening cocktails, and loved the large windows that we could leave open all of the time. Wonderful. Not fancy.
Although a very friendly welcome by the host Maria, I was unable to reach her throughout our stay. We had ran out of toilet paper and the room was not clean (but may I add the bedding and bathroom was perfectly fine!) The fridge had hairs inside and the floor needed a good mop as my child's knees where covered in dirt. Come checkout, my booking stating we had till 10.30am but the host came knocking on the door at 10 telling us to leave. I had also requested a late checkout through booking.com which no one had responded to prior to even checking in. I asked this upon check in but host didn't understand as she speaks little English. Luckily we were packed and ready to leave but my small child was very upset over the ordeal. Luckily the host let me leave our luggage there. Would not stay again and would not recommend to anyone with children travelling alone.…
We had a very good time here , we were welcomed profesionally and the the room was very clean and comforatble .the location was excellent .The old town is very quaint and is great for a stroll around . handy for onward jounerys . this place was well worth the money and we would return if ever in the area.
Nice and clean room with a comfortable bed and a bathroom in the old town. It's about 10 minute walk from the ferry and a minute walk to the cafes, restaurants with a sea view. Maria was very welcoming and friendly. There is a fridge in the room and a microwave in the hall, a small table and chairs in the room for self caterers. There is a restaurant below the rooms, so you can hear people talking, but it wasn't rowdy and it stopped around midnight. In any case a very good deal, I thought.
