"On The Track Lodge" is a wonderful little oasis on the Nydia Bay, ideally located between the Kaiuma and Nydia Saddles for those hiking the Nydia Track. After a beautiful day of hiking through native bush, we were met by the owner, Helen, who treated us to refreshments and her homemade carrot cake. After checking into our rooms, we were...

I had put On the Track Lodge on my list of places I must go after reading about it 3 years ago. It was everything and more than I expected. There were 6 of us, 4 adults and 2 children and we all loved it. We stepped onto the porch just as the skies opened and the big storm started....

We were not disappointed with our second stay at "On The Track". I had said you won't be disappointed in a review 20 Jan 2015. Helen and Art are the new owners of the lodge and clearly understand what makes this place special. Tidy, clean, good food, relaxed atmosphere, responsive hosts and happy to help with your arrangements. On the...

A beautiful walk (the Nydia Track) leads to the nicest lodge in idyllic Nydia Bay. A very warm welcome makes you feel home away from home. The lodge is very comfortable, you have the freedom to do whatever you feel like doing. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. Thanks to Helen, Arthur and Dutch volunteer Rosalie for our superb experience!

From the vintage "Railway" and "Wheels" magazines in the 1930s train carriage to the perfectly fitted out kitchen for preparing dinner, the attention to detail at this place is amazing! It was such a lovely surprise to find ourselves somewhere so welcoming and comfortable after four hours of walking through the bush. I especially enjoyed the eccentric and impressive carpentry,...

Spent two nights at this wonderful oasis nestled into the bush and farmlands of Nydia Bay. Greeted with homemade carrot cake and a big mug of fresh tea. We were thinking of walking in but it was quite wet so caught the water taxi instead. Went on wonderful walks out of the lodge and came back for hot tubs and...

My partner, his family, and I all hiked in and stayed at the lodge for a night then hiked out the next day. Our only regret was that we didn't book 2 nights so we could stay and enjoy it longer. The walk in and out are both about 4 and a half hours - and you need to have...

The Lodge is at Nydia Bay, in a remote part of New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds. We were fifteen walking friends who traversed the beautiful Nydia Track in two days in April this year with an overnight stay at the Lodge. The Lodge is about halfway with a 5-hour walk each way to the ends of the Track. There is no...

Helen and Art had only recently taken over as the new owners and pulled off their first wedding dinner at the Lodge. We had such an awesome time relaxing at Nydia Bay, the family was very welcoming and really helpful guiding us around the area. Couldn't have asked for better hosts. Thanks to Nick and little Art for helping us...
