Our third visit to this beautiful island.Very beautiful place and beach it's different experience, one side sea other side kayal. After lock down our first tripe. Neat and clean room, very tasty sea foods and nice dealings.
Kannur Beach House is an amazing place to stay, great food and really nice rooms. The host family who runs the place is so warm and welcoming. And they make sure everything's good, so you can be totally relaxed and enjoy your stay. The people in this place is everything, they made me feel like I belonged there, that I was home. We also had some really good conversations.
Along with taking a walk at the beautiful beaches, watching the sunsets, enjoying the view from your room or the hammocks with some coconut at your side. This place is really something special!
Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 school age kids) is on a sabbatical / world schooling year and we stayed with Rosi and Nazir for 10 amazing nights in Jan 2020. We were first timers and met other guests who have come back again and again, and we now understand why. It’s an incredible location in a small village in northern Kerala, with pristine, empty beaches and nearby coves. Well worth the 5-6 hour train ride north from Kochi (there is also an airport in Kannur). Homemade breakfasts and dinners are superb, healthy buffets with a variety of traditional and creative dishes. Every meal felt like a special occasion. We stayed in a simple, cozy room on the top floor with a double bed, single bed & attached bathroom about 15 meters behind the front rooms, with sea & sunset views from the balcony. They provided us with an extra cot & mattress which worked well for our family. The shaded community dining table was great for us to do art, write, read, etc during the hot afternoons. Rosi gave us great suggestions for a yoga teacher, Theyyam, the Loknath handloom weaving center, and a visit with the local gold/silversmith. The morning birds are amazing in the backwaters- do try out the canoe with homemade paddle. We also got great tips for the next leg of our journey. Feeling so grateful to Rosi and Nazir and their lovely & diligent staff for treating us like family. Our kids say they give Kannur Beach House 100 out of 5 stars!
We are "returning guests" and I reiterate what we have said in previous reviews.
Beach house is situated in an idyllic position overlooking a lagoon and the beach. Hammocks hang beneath the palm trees and the view from the shaded balcony is delightful. En suite rooms are clean and comfortable and have fans and some have a/c. We found the latter unnecessary as there was often a cooling sea breeze.
Beach house is a homestay, not an hotel. Guests eat with the family at set times. The food is delicious with a large choice of options at breakfast and dinner. There is something for everyone.
Early morning tea and coffee are welcome after a swim as the sun rises over the hill, and afternoon tea is served to those wishing to gather and chat about the day's excursions. A kitchenette is also available to guests
Rosi and Nazir are just the best hosts. Nothing is too much trouble......from tuk-tuks for shopping expeditions in Kannur to arranging visits to Theyyams (religious festivals). Yoga and ayurvedic massage are also available locally.
We have been lucky enough to meet many interesting people during our stays and many of them are also returning guests who have become friends.
Thank you Rosi and Nazir for making us so welcome again, we will definitely be coming back.
Rosi could not have been more helpful; from answering my questions before making a booking to arranging an airport transfer. She called the driver as we left the airport to check if I had arrived and whether I would like to stop for lunch on my way to the house. Upon arrival I was welcomed into a beautiful beach home with all the home comforts, including a guest kitchen where we were able to make a cup of tea or our own meal. Breakfast and dinner were provided daily, and what a feast of the most delicious home cooked South Indian food. Scrumptious! My room was upstairs with a glorious view of the beach. A balcony allowed me to enjoy the view from my comfortable room. The house is a short distance across a bridge to a quiet beach where I swam in the early morning and walked daily. The house was a haven created by my hosts Rosi and Nazir who warmly welcome travellers for a night or a month. They made it possible to experience all there was in the area and made whatever arrangements their guests required to have one of the best holidays I have had in India; Indian hospitality at its best! Many thanks for a real home experience in India
