We spent a very enjoyable long weekend at the Sett pod (family of four). The site itself is quite secluded, so on the plus side very peaceful, great for kids to explore nature and the there's come fab facilities like a rainy day room, fire pit, and a very nice personal bathroom/ kitchen wash up area only a very short distance from the pod. The pod itself is a good size, has heating, electricity and lighting. The porch area is roomy too.
It's secluded though. Anything like a beach (Bude is about 25 minutes away) or shops, are all a drive away. There's a local swimming pool with a a wave machine and the Venue offers ten pin bowling and things. Plenty of local supermarkets too.
All in all an enjoyable break despite a bit of wet weather!

What can I say? Too much, probably! Having just returned from a week’s stay at Quarry Pods we are missing it already!
It really was the most amazing place - a little peace of heaven tucked away in the beautiful Devon countryside.
The pod - Our family - two adults, teenage daughter and 8-year-old son plus our Labrador stayed in The Hive - one of the 4 people pods. There was plenty of room for all of us plus bags etc and we kept all our cooking essentials plus chairs etc on the neat decking area outside. The pod was warm and cosy and quiet and it was lovely not having to put up a tent after a six hour journey. The huge cool box was also a big plus.

The bathroom/washing up facilities were fantastic. We’ve never had a private bathroom while camping so this added a luxury feel. It was spotless with a lovely hot shower and was great to be able to keep all your towels and toiletries in.

Communal areas - a lot of thought has been put into the whole site - picnic tables in several areas, a fire pit and a rainy day room and best of all it was all very secure for our dog.

Lots of other plus points included a fabulous secure nature reserve just a short walk up the road where our dog enjoyed some great walks and Wi-Fi (a must for our daughter!)

The resident barn owls and owl cam were also lovely to watch, along with the starry skies.

I really could go on about how wonderful Quarry Pods are.

They are well located for some lovely towns and villages and beaches - our favourites were Widemouth Bay and Bude. We also appreciated the very in depth and handy welcome book in the lodge giving recommendations for places to visit and eat etc.

The negatives - none! We couldn’t find a single fault with our stay. The set up was absolutely spot on.

All in all, would we return? Most definitely!

We booked to stay her for 3 nights, a family of 2 adults a 3 year old girl and 5 month old puppy having done lots of research and read the website - we wanted a posh camping experience on a farm for our little girl and although I wouldn't call it posh it's certainly a big step up from standard camping. The pods are exactly that pods, that's it which we expected and although the bathroom isn't right next to the Pod which I did expect they are a tiny walk away and they are super clean and to a high standard. The reasons it wasn't right for us were that the pods are very close together and face into each other, and you can hear everything going on in and around you so much so they we could hear the (young couple next door enjoying themselves during the night!) and with an excited 3 year old and puppy who both wanted to be up at 7am being surrounded by people who did not I became very conscious that we were disturbing their peace and quiet. Had we been around young families this would have been different but that's the risk you take. So we got up early and spent the whole day and eve out, our choice but we felt unable to relax at the site due to how we may impact the other visitors. Also apart from some bulls in the adjacent field, the animals are not visible unless you go on an organised trip which was disappointing for our daughter. They had what looked like a great rainy day room but it was locked despite it being wet outside. This would have been useful for us to have access too. There are a very small handful of pubs within driving distance but they were pretty awful everything else is about 15 mins away. We also paid a lot of money - £85 (£25 deposit) to hire a double, single blow up bed and bedding. The pillows had seen better days for sure and the single had a puncture, we genuinely don't know whether we caused it without knowing, I text the owner but had no response, so my husband slept on the floor which was not fun. We decided to leave a day/night early, I emailed and explained, had a brief email back no mention of the air bed and no offer of any refund, which I probably wouldn't have accepted as it was our choice to leave, we didn't get the the beds deposit back either again, could have been us that damaged it without realising but it would have been nice to have been offered something. Just recognition of being mindful of the other guests and sense checking whether I understood what they were trying to create there conservation wise - which I do and appreciate we loved seeing the barn owls on our way back in the car one night. Overall a very impersonal and in my view lacked care for the customer. If you want to retreat but don't fancy a tent and are happy to be left to your own devices in the middle of nowhere with a nice bathroom and don't mind getting up close and personal with others then this is your place. We've learnt that to be able for us to relax our daughter and puppy need to be able to relax, roam, make some noise and have some level of stimulation (animals would do) and we also need a decent food pub selling decent wine within walking distance!

Hi Roz We are sorry your stay did not live up to your expectations. We do hope from our website, that guests realise this is a small quiet campsite, but maybe we do need to make this a little clearer. We have tried to make the best of the farms beautiful rural surroundings and features on the farm (The old quarry) but this also means that it might not suit everyone, because of it's location. I thank you for your frank appraisal from your own families perspective, which makes me believe we should further strengthen our promotion of Quarry Pods as a small, quiet, rural campsite.

Fantastic rural setting. Very helpful friendly owner. Excellent bedding and cooking packs available to hire with everything you could need if you're not experienced campers like us. Great location with country walks and beaches just over the border in Cornwall to visit. Loved watching the owletts on web cams and seeing the adults flying in and out at night feeding them. Would thoroughly recommend.
