Looking for clean air, blue sky, sounds of silence, stars and the moon then Itmenaan is the place to visit.
Beware of what not to expect. This is no hotel and certainly not a resort. Neither is it a B&B or a homestay. To put it simply its a abode in the wilderness. Itmenaan is not loaded with creature comforts but it has the essential ones in place.
You traverse a State and not a National highway in the last mile which can be a rough ride. In any case you get off the motor and onto your feet for a reasonably steep 20 minute descent to reach it which converts itself into a more challenging 40 minute ascent on the way back.
We were an extended family of 15, the age group stretching all the way from a 65 to just under five triplets ! A 57 year old with a mild kidney disorder, a couple of stately ladies with knee and breathing problems were part of the entourage, the remaining were enthusiasts in good shape. The mixed bag, as it was. negotiated the ups and downs well enough. So nothing daunting about Itmenaan if you have your spirits and walking shoes in place.
The food is less gourmet and more homelike. The tandoori roti fans must know this. Of the two chefs, one is more accomplished than the other. We realized this on the penultimate day when the better one showed up from deployment elsewhere. In the meanwhile the platter never disappointed the taste buds. A lounge and dinning room is in the making until then all meals are served in open air, inclement weather can mean makeshift arrangements.
The accommodation is interesting, money has been spent with consideration. The room is basic, the bathrooms well provided, quality mattresses, pillows and linen.
The service, dinning, room and outdoor is impeccable.
Besides staring at the mountains, reading a book and listening to music you can take walks of easy to moderate intensity.
Television is nowhere to be found, mobile connectivity is basic, electricity supply robust.
Itmenaan exudes warmth and serenity. It is nestled in a bowl amidst, moderate mountains, somewhat sparse woods, quintessential step farmed slopes, a depleted stream at the bottom and a difficult to access waterfall. The flora and fauna are worth investigating. In good season snow capped peaks appear, greenery abounds and is perennial.
Good place to go to, well provided, exceptionally well serviced.

Itemenaan estate located in a small village called Naugaon opens its door to luxury and adventure. It captures the beauty of the mountains along with picturesque flora, if you are someone who likes peace and tranquility and open to mountain walks this is the place to be.

It sustains the flavor of old British bungalows and offers the authentic kumaon food to give a true experience of the region.

The oak rooms are beautiful and takes you off from the hustle and bustle of the metros. It has no TVs or Wi-Fi which i think is a plus point if you want some peace out from your routine.

The place is not preferred with small kids as it doesnt give them much room to play around. Best suited for couples!!

Hello!! Thank you for taking your time and sharing your experience during your stay at Itmenaan Estate. We appreciate your precious words for Itmenaan Estate. We are delighted to note that you have found the estate peaceful and adventurous which is our actual concept for people to stay close with nature. There are lot of families with kids who really have a lot of fun and a very good experience here as in cities they hardly get time to be with nature. Kids can learn a lot here and also experience gardening. Besides we have a outdoor hanging out area where kids can participate in the outdoor activities. We hope to welcome you back at Itmenaan Estate and our other properties also in future. Thanks and regards, Team Itmenaan

Excellent property.. spent 2 days with family.. about 3 hrs drive from Nanital... the route is a bit tough.. you will not find too many good food joints on the way.. so better to fill youe tummy in Nainital/bhimtal. The description mentioned says you will have to trak 15 min to reach the property.. but I would say beeter tk improve your fitness before coming to this resort... the trek is a bit tough on office goers..
Pros
1. Nice hospitality
2. Clean and aesthic rooms
3. Yum food
4. Courteous staff
5. Beautiful views
6. Calm atmosphere
7. You will need to be patient to enjoy the surroundings
8. If you are 4-5 people.. take one oak room and one deodar cottage
9. Go to jageshwar temple 4-5 hrs total.. but worth a visit

Cons
1. Only for fit people
2. Not for old aged or physically challenged
3. Not for small kids below 8 years of age as uphill and downhill trek is tough... also the outside courtyard is a bit risky with no railings
4. Pls tell the staff about your dinner choice in advance.. they can prepare food to your likings.. but choices are a bit limited
5. Lot of insects and spiders... be a bit cautious.. however since its in middle of nowhere hence such things are common
6. Not much to do except relaxing in the hotel and enjoying the surroundings...

A must one time visit..

Lovely location , great service and food. This place is beautiful - perfect for a rejuvenating getaway , fresh air , tasty local veggies , local cuisine - perfect for a 3 - 4 day getaway , drive from Kathgodam is only 3 1/ 2 Hrs. We stayed at the largest villa which had a sit out and a spacious bedroom - views of snow clad mountains are directly in front

The Location of this resort is superb. The surroundings are tranquil. Overall its close to Nature. Almost every room has the view to the mighty Himalayan ranges, We took 02 Oak rooms. The Hotel Staff was great. The boys were always running around to help. That’s the best Part.
All the staff were very friendly, Special Thanks to Mr.Uday Singh (Chachu) who was always full of stories and being a old man still very enthusiastic.
Full marks to food because this was one of the best varieties of cuisine till now. The best part was to make you available such kind of Continental food in such a remote area.
Amazing effort by management to keep all amenities up to date.
I highly recommend this property for a log trip with your close ones.
