My wife and I stayed at Itmenaan, Chalnichinna for 4 nights and it's been the most delightful and amazing experience. The beautiful and captivating property and the surrounding Himalayan view just uplifts your soul. You can hear a calming and soothing silence here.
The staff and kitchen defined hospitality and went beyond throughout our stay. The amazing food, most welcoming and accomodating nature of all the staff made it a truly delightful experience. Special thanks to Govindji he made us feel truly at home and conjured up any special requests like a charm!
Please do let them know if you are fond of dogs, then they let them roam free around the property and do say hello to Jojo from us, he spent most of his time in our room!
We stayed at more aggressively advertised "luxurious" (but totally lacking in hospitality) properties around the hills in Uttarakhand too and we checked out in less than a day, they come nowhere close to the beauty of Itmenaan nor in the welcome, warmth and hospitality of this fine place.
Recommended room: Deodar Cottage!

It was certainly a good experience to stay at Itmenaan Estate. The best part was location & ambiance. At least I loved to trek down to the Estate from main road. The food was also good, mainly the breakfast & coffee. Of course naturalist Avijit was brilliant at his job & friendly. He made the morning/evening walks more enjoyable. Secondly the staffs at the lodge took very good care of us. I am pleased with their service too. Few odds like.. it is not possible for a old person to climb down as in I may never take my parents in such place so you guys can invest little more to make stony steps down to the estate from main road. On the food non-veg continental dishes can be introduced in lunch. Evening snacks & Indian food for dinner need little more improvement! Also calling the stuff from the room was also a challenge, some internal phone line can be introduced if possible. These are just some suggestions as I may will to travel again during some other season!

Thank you very much for your review. We are really glad that you liked your stay at Itmenaan Estate. Indeed the location on the middle of a hill, surrounded by farms and forests, and looking over valleys and mountains draws a lot of our guests. If you visit from October to March, you can also expect to see stunning snow-capped Himalayan peaks right from your room window and courtyard.
Our naturalist is very passionate about identifying and exploring the surroundings. In fact he has been able to spot many rare bird and mammal species lately.
Since you have stayed at the estate and seen our service, you would be able to better appreciate that all the service staff is local and they have been trained to cater to sophisticated guests.
Regarding the path, we do appreciate that it can be steep in some stretches. Generally, for children and older people who visit us, we arrange for complimentary ponies. In any case, we have checked the path again and re-laid it in certain stretches.
Regarding Indian dinners, we have communicated to our Chef to understand the requirements of the guests better. We cater to a lot of international guests and generally cook food that caters to any palette.
We have now kept mobile phones in each room for guests to call the staff easily. Again, we appreciate the time you have taken to write this review. Hope to see you at the estate again.

Away from everywhere, in the middle of nowhere you get Itmenaan Estate. Scenic views and quiet roads in the second half of our drive made our long journey from Delhi, in some ways, not so tiring. A short downhill hike brought us to the Estate. Rustic meets luxury. The bathrooms had me sold. Friendly and helpful staff, informative manager and chirpy porters, a delightful combination. The drawback however was that the car park was at quite a distance but that I believe is to be taken care of since a road to the estate is in the works. This place is a little steep for what it offers and considering it isn't really close to a town and the nearby village too is at a distance, meals should be included in the room tariff. All in all I have no complaints, if I do have a few days to kill in the near future, I'd consider coming back ! Thanks for a great stay !

Right from the first email, we found Itmenan a wholesome different experience. We booked all the 3 rooms in Itmenan for the last week of January for 5 nights. The staff is excellent and they really take care and know their stuff. Food was good, and was adapted to our needs as we requested simple home made Indian food. On the fifth year of our marriage we wanted to remarry as per the Hindu customs. Itmenan staff went out of the way to arrange the marriage ceremony. Because of that we could prepare and plan everything in advance. All the necessary stuff was bought in advance by Itmenan and we were even helped in getting the priest ( Pujariji) to get the marriage done at Jageshwar temple. Correspondence with Shweta ( Delhi office) was great and she was always prompt and helpful to respond to all our queries. Naturalist Avijit at Itmenan is full of enthusiasm and we enjoyed thoroughly the tracking under his guidance. We also enjoyed his thrilling experiences during his present and past work, which he shared with us every night. It was great to sit around the fire to listen to his amazing stories and to see some great photographs he took.
The only negative we felt was the cold. Room Heating wasn't sufficient to keep the room and the bathroom heated enough.

Wanted to get away from the city life to celebrate my hubby’s birthday...while looking at different nearby places came across this property to start with liked the name and logo,the place was attractive n much suited our needs..so decided to finalise on it and drove down to the place.The staff is absolutely helpful kept guiding us while we were driving.we reached the place at around 8 in the evening parked the car and the staff was there ready with walking poles,flash lights n umbrellas as it was raining that night n helped us trek down to the property which took around 15 mins! On reaching the room we were impressed by the place.The staff had arranged for a cake n a candle light dinner in a corner outside! The food was amazing! We had a great time! Next morning the view was even more breath taking as at night we could not see the place well! The place is situated in a perfect place mountains in front of us beautiful landscape awsum garden n we sat n sipped the morning tea to the soul treating view! Not only is the place a treasure, the people are very good too and have no words for the yummy food ! Special thanx to Sandy and Bhavana for making our special day even more special.Will highly recommend this treasure !
