Very nice hotel with helpful staff that speak English. I reserved a parking space in their garage when I made my reservation, which I'm glad I did. Street parking is limited but there is also a public parking garage directly across the street, so no worries if you forget to reserve parking. The room was clean and spacious for two people. I enjoyed the ample breakfast offering, plenty of selection and the staff keep the buffet well stocked. I'd stay here again if I visit Aachen in the future.
In general the hotel and rooms are ok, the room we stayed in was quite spacious and had two toilets! The rooms was somewhat modern decorated and offer an own bathroom, spacious bedroom, spacious bathroom, balcony and coffee making facilities. Good for one night if you are passing by the Christmas markets in Koln or Bruhl.
A few minor points though!
- Service is OK, although a smile of the lady of the reception at times would be nice!
- All sockets of the London room, in the bathroom left-side and left-side of the room did not work! Lights did not work in the bathroom, coffee-making facility did not work nor could you load your batteries of electronic equipment.
- The room appeared sound proof, but at night, when the Christmas market started or the bar downstairs turned music on, you could hear the bass from downstairs!?
- WIFI connection is offered, but does not work.
Then, as there were problems with the electronics, I had to find another socket to load my battery, I used one in another space of the room, where I then forgot to take it when we left... I called the reception the same day and they said they would look for it and call me back. They never did! So I guess the cleaner or someone else already took it!? Bad!
We stayed at the "Cologne" room. Great, spacious, clean room with a nice terrace. Perfect location. We parked our car for free at P&R Brühl-Vochem, and took the U-bahn to Brühl-Mitte (only 2 stops, costs €1,90 per person, one-way). From Brühl-Mitte it is only a 5 minute walk to the hotel. To Phantasialand we took the shuttle bus (every half hour, €3,- per person, return), which leaves from the Brühl-Mitte station (so also 5 minute walk from the hotel). The shuttle takes about 10 minutes to Phantasialand. There is no airconditioning in the rooms. The wifi connection is not very good.
Staff, Service, Facilities: big zero!
The key was left at a restaurant, no problem for us to go to collect it there. But in stead of 15h to check in, we had to wait till 17h to have our key, although on the door of the hotel it said 16h.
Couldn't reach anyone, called two times, to three phone numbers I had and left messages, no one bothered to contact me. Two hours we had to spend waiting...
WiFi did not work. There was no tea or coffee in the room, only the machine and sugar, lots of sugar. Towels were not refreshed during our four days visit.
Sent an e-mail to hotel to complain about the WiFi, it took them two days to answer, and then again did not give a solution...
The reception and restaurant of the hotel were under construction. You would think one tries to please the customer some more on this occasion, but nothing of the kind... A real disappointment...
Stayed in the Paris room. Very nicely laid out and would havbe been romantic if I hadn't been travelling with my brother! Hotel is located above restaurant and that is where you check in and out, so this can be a little inconvenient if you are arriving or leaving particularly early. Parking is available nearby (2-3 minutes walk) and is free from 1800-0800 but you would need to go down to add money in the morning. Location is great to explore the town and close to Phantasialand bus stop.
