We were 11 of us -ages 14-76. we all had a wonderful time. the proerty itself is beautiful but the staff and team at KLR make the stay so memorable. Thee is so much to do inside the place. the mean derding ppol room are the best ones to take though we use 3 of these and 2 imprerial pool villa. The pool Villas are larger rom and useful when we all got together at night - after dinnert to play games. The meandering pool rooms were super for all of us to just jump in the pool.
Special mention. The food. Every meal was just fantastic. Loved all the options. thou we ate mainly the kerala / local food but we did try some of the other like seafood paella or beef terriaki. The evening entertainment added to the charm. Speicial menion to Chef Sarat for his amazing desserts and the special cake he made for my son's 16th.
Special menion: resturant staff Arti. very helpful. We were a large group and she was so attentive.
Special mention: activity cordinator Kavi. Makes all the activities enteraining
really enjoyed the activities, sunset cruise. the TT table and the pottery.
added bonus.. trabnsfer form Airport to hotel was seemless and hassle free.
Nestled within the backwaters of kumarakom, the lake resort was a beautiful place. You feel welcomed right from the beginning. The unassuming wooden gate opens up to an amazing resort which is very well curated. The refreshing tender coconut welcome drink was just what we needed after a long drive. The welcome package includes all activities available in the resort. The kids enjoyed their cup cake icing sessions. The evening tea and fishing session was refreshing. The weather was great this time around. The heritage pool villa offers a non temprature regulated mini plunge pool with 5 feet depth to relax. The villa offers an open bathroom. If you want a closed bath, choose a different category of room. Its a must visit place with family to relax and rejuvenate. The ayurvedic spa offers a wide range of treatments. Overall a great experience.
Beautiful resort with a scenic view of the lake. We stayed here for 3 days, 2 nights and probably would have stayed longer if time permitted.
The villas are spacious and comfortable, with a nice, spacious washroom and shower area. This space is semi-open, meaning in most rooms your shower is either under the sky or close to the edge of the roof. So, that may take some getting used to if you're a bit prudish. The villa we stayed in was near the Meandering Pool which offers you plenty of space to swim in and is directly accessible from the front or back porch of your room depending on which one you're staying in. Other rooms come with private pools and jacuzzis.
The food at the resort is also great. We've enjoyed everything they've served us at the main restaurant. From breakfast to dinner, they offered an amazing spread with both Indian and continental food. Each meal also has a live counter for dosas, appams, grilled meats, or kebabs, depending on the time of the day. The only complaint would be about the idiyappam and idlis - they get too. Not sure if it's how they're stored or something else that does this but maybe having them made fresh or stored differently could help?
In terms of activities, they have pottery, weaving, indoor spots (carrom, table tennis and chess), cycling (outside the resort area), a backwater boat ride (couldn't take it due to the weather), a sunset cruise, and live cultural performances every evening.
Also, a shout out to their staff for being super helpful and sweet throughout our stay:
- Aarthy and Meenakshi at the restaurant for their assistance. They checked in on us regularly and ensuring we're well taken care of.
- Akshay and Vishnu as well for taking care of us throughout the meals. They kept asking us if we needed something else, and got food to the table for the elderly members of the family when the buffet area got too crowded for them to navigate.
- Biju for the amazing dosas at breakfast.
- Sarath S for being kind and helpful throughout our time at the restaurants. He recommended new items to try, checked to see if we needed anything, and also had some helpful information on what else to do around here, other good times to visit and more.
All in all, a lovely vacation. Would definitely like to come back here again.
My family and I stayed at KLR for 7 nights. It’s a gorgeous property on the Vembanad lake, with plush villas and cottages. We had a meandering pool Villa and a heritage villa with private pool. Both gorgeous and really well appointed. The restaurants were terrific, especially the Seafood restaurant and the “Thattukada” the local tea-shop every evening. We enjoyed the daily yoga sessions at the lakeside with the tropical breeze blowing in our faces.
The best part of the resort was the exceptional staff, who were fantastic. We want to thank the GM Sanjay Varma, and Manager Teji for running a terrific operation; our Yoga instructor for being exceptionally patient; Kavi for his boundless energy and amazing photographs; Jibin at the Seafood restaurant; Sandra for doing such a fantastic job at housekeeping and leaving us gorgeous towel-art animals that brightened up our day; Vaishnav for being always present to escort out some occasional unwanted tropical visitors in our room; and many many more who we saw each day but whose names we sadly did not get to know. They made this one of the best holidays we have had.
I would highly recommend this as a full on luxury resort
We, 3 of us, stayed for a couple of days in July, in the private pool lake front villa. The room was spacious, open bath and pool was extremely enjoyable. The food was excellent and so was the attitude of the staff. They wanted to help at each step and were continuously seeking feedback. Just one request, my companions, from Europe, found little to eat from the buffet since most of the items were quite spicy for their taste. If some more non-spicy items are added to the menu, that'll help. Overall, an amazing experience.
