Had a very nice stay for two weeks. Rooms are clean and any issues ( toilet flush was broken) were fixed quickly. Used the gym daily and the equipment was much better than other hotels I’ve recently stayed in.
Food was ok. Plenty to choose from and wine with dinner came bottled and not out of a tap.
On the downside, service was terrible. We prefer to eat outside and there was no waiter service at these tables. Had to set up and clear our own every night. The one evening we ate in the restaurant was exactly the same. This wasn’t the staffs fault and it seemed everything was cut back after Thomas cook went into liquidation. Less food and parts of the restaurant shut down.
Overall a nice stay However definitely not up to 5 start standard.
An impeccably maintained complex. Very well appointed large bedroom and good range of leisure and sports facilities. The main restaurant serves excellent food and drink to suit everyone, and retains a smart and calm ambience despite being buffet style. Swift table clearing and pleasant staff. Get to dinner by 8pm to find the best choice still available. People don’t eat late in low season. The gourmet restaurant was exquisite and well worth a visit! Highly rate the gym and infinity pools. If a relaxed and superior all-inc poolside holiday is what you’re after, this is perfect. Hire a car easily and go to the north of the island in one day to see the best of the Island! Thank you to the staff at Sandos for a lovely holiday. We may well return one day !
We returned this week from 10 days here. Although the reviews were mixed, the pictures of the hotel and location were enough for us to book and it didn't disappoint.
The complex itself is huge but nicely spaced out on different levels so lots to explore. Everywhere was spotless. There are about 8 pools I think, two of which are adults only. There were very few children around anyway given the time of year. The pools are lovely, there were lots of sun loungers with towels on them but we always got 2 anyway. The loungers are very close together which was sometimes a bit awkward.
Our room was on 3rd floor and was lovely, very big with a huge bathroom with bath, separate toilet and shower. Lots of shower gels etc provided. I didn't find the bed comfortable at all and this was probably the only down side to the room to be honest. Air conditioning worked well. Rooms were cleaned every day.
The food was lovely, lots of variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the snack bar made great burgers if you prefer. Drinka were good also.
The a la carte restaurant is excellent, great quality food albeit limited choice. Nice for a change to the buffet.
Night time entertainment was good, usual type of stuff but some really good. 11pm is early for all inclusive finish so it is very quiet after that each night. There was one night there was an incredible fireworks display (think it was part of a wedding that was on site), it was absolutely fantastic and the nature reserve echoed also which made it more spectacular.
The gym was also very good, never too busy and well equipped.
Free shuttle bus to Las Americas twice daily which was good and we went once which was enough for us.
Beautiful hotel and lovely holiday, we would definitely return.
One of the real positives is the proximity to the airport and we barely noticed the planes overhead after the first day.
I will try and keep this review as balanced as possible whilst covering points from other reviews.
This is a fantastic hotel with a great location. Personally I think it's a great place for young professionals to come to if you dont want to suffer the tacky and tasteless side that some of the bigger resorts have. We went once to Las Americas and had a night out there once and that was enough for us. It only costs 20 euro by taxi to get there.
Ive seen much mention of the hotel being in a flight path... while yes it is, it isn't that bad. Sometimes we even enjoyed seeing them. The sound isnt deafening. But I really wouldnt let it affect your decision to come here.
We loved the food. Breakfast is breakfast...everything youd expect from cereals to a cooked breakfast, pastries and fruit. I found the coffee in the buffet restaurant not that great but got it from the bars instead. Lunch - this was always varied and cooked very well. Too much selection if anything. Healthy options were always on offer. Dinner - you were always taken to a table which was a nice touch and it was a different theme every night. No complaints. Didn't get bored of it at all. We were always served a bottle of water each then another drink of our choosing whether that be alcohol or a soft drink. These could be topped up if required. The La Proa restaurant was lovely and you get one dinner there per 5 night stay. Not a huge menu to pick from but none the less it was lovely.
The pools were fantastic. 8 of them in total. 2 of these were adult only but to be honest there were very few children about due to the time of year so this wasnt anything we needed to worry about. There are two bars one of which is poolside and does food throughout the day. Pizza, burgers and a club sandwhich. All very good. Only issue I would have about the bars is that the drinks arent that big and you have to continually go and get another one. Just a small thing.
Our room was fantastic. It was a double deluxe. Huge walk in shower, walk in toilet, spa bath and two sinks. This is where the hotel provides those extra touches which sets it apart. They provide, shaving kits, cosmetic kits, tissues, toothbrushes etc...all in the bathroom. This was great. There was no iron but I requested one and it was delivered promptly. The balcony/patio was great. We were on the ground floor overlooking the pool which had the bar at it. We read there the one day it rained and we stayed dry. Beds were comfortable enough. Two oversized single beds pushed together. Safe was easy to use. Slippers and bath robes were also provided. Again a nice touch I thought.
I loved the location of the hotel. If wanted to venture out it's a short walk to a little shopping complex which has lots of restaurants, bars and shopping facilities including a supermarket. We had an Indian there and the bars were great.
What makes this hotel so great was the staff. Always so helpful, couldn't do more for you. They were always smiling. We don't have kids but the animation team had a lot of things planned for the few kids that were about.
A few things were I think they could improve on...only small things. They didnt provide beer mats at the outside bar where the evening entertainment was. So due to the heat the glasses would drip all over you. And 11pm was the cut off for drinks. I think this could be stretched slightly.
The gym was fantastic. Best hotel gym I've seen. Open 24 hours a day.
Check out time is noon. Our transfer wasnt until 7pm. You can pay to keep your room on. Would have been 50 euros for us. I wouldnt bother. The courtesy facilites are again fantastic. Lockers available. Communal areas to wait around while other members of your party gets ready. The showers and toilets are split into males and females. The males section has 4 showers each in their own room with more than enough room to get changed in. 4 toilets in their own cubicles. 2 sinks. They provide towels, shower gel and shampoo. Hair dryer as well. Really is the the best courtesy facilities I've seen. Plus the hotel will mind the rest of your luggage at reception so you dont have to worry.
As I have said this is a fantastic hotel, very clean, thinks about the environment. Clean and friendly. Great food. All the usual big name drinks. It is very modern.
We will definitely be back.
Hope you find this useful.
Spacious rooms, acceptable entertainment,
polite smiling staff gourmet restaurant and occasionally the bar,
good swimming pools,
enough sunbeds, good lounge, able to use facilities after check out room
Polite cleaning staff , daily cleaning room
Food low quality / too cheap (especially the meat/fish and the pastries),
my room (I can only speak about my own experience) was on the ground floor with view of a pedestrian passage (probably the worst room of the establishment), had a faulty TV ( had to be fixed in arrival) , a faulty shower phone (the same) and no poor Wi-Fi signal (a router was placed after I complained to Thomas cook). Staff smirking on complains ..
Not existing beach (20m artificial sand placed between the road and stones that cover the seaside throughout. Misleading photos (no one was able to go for a swim in the beach).
There is a free shuttle every morning to Playa America that I found out on check out as nobody bothered to inform me on the check in...
Near the airport so every 15mins a plane landing or heading off will disturb your peace (not too annoying for me though)
Overall definitely NOT good value for money (even for being on the most economical in Tenerife you would expect it to be able to meet some standards)...s
Gym dumbbell s and 8 gym instrume nts, very inadequate
