Excellent!! Worth going there if you’re in Altea or nearby. The food was incredible, absolutely home made cuisine... The menus are great and the environment is very nice in a quite area around the pool!! Very attentive service!! Next time we’re in Altea, we’ll definitely go there!! Thanks for a marvelous evening!!
I spent five nights in this beautiful little gem of a boutique hotel, and I enjoyed it so much I'm planning to go back for a week to finish a writing project. The hotel is a 300-year-old olive farm, a classic Spanish casona of old white archways and loggias and balconies and gardens, with a pool, surrounded by views of mountains and ocean. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the staff is attentive and warm, and the breakfast is fantastic, with delicious cheeses and Spanish jamon serrano and tortilla espanola. Good coffee too. For dinner, I loved the salad and the fish filet. At night there was a roaring fire in the hotel bar, and the owner and guests gathered for an interesting chat. The staff are friendly and interesting to talk to, and the owner is dedicated to creature comforts. The hotel has many rooms with balconies, and I recommend them. The Tossal is surrounded by old orchards and wildflowers, and it is no wonder that it is chosen for yoga retreats. It is a short walk from the town of Altea, which has a beautiful bay and beach front malecon and is not overrun with tourists like Benidorm. The sunsets and sunrises are magnificent. The other day we strolled along the malecon and a young man was playing a harp on the promenade. I'll be back.
A special place, a building that used to be an oil factory There is a large pool, a beautiful dining room, an open courtyard where the tourists sit, In the center of the dining room is the flat "pulley" and squeezing the olives. Excellent breakfast, excellent service from the receptionist. The upstairs room is simple and cozy, with a small balcony.Simple bathroom with heater. We had no special view. A quiet and pleasant atmosphere. The amazing receptionist helped us a lot. Called the hotel in Valencia to make sure the passports were stored in their safe - Amazing and kind hearted woman.
This is the place to go to unwind, and let all your worries in life fade into the distance!
Off the beaten track(literally!) you will find this wonderful rural hotel.
Only twenty two rooms, but this hotel boasts a gymnasium,a fabulous outdoor pool, ample sunbathing areas,an absolutely tremendous dining room which is steeped in history,a cozy bar area(inside and out) and finally the most amazing views!
Altea has outstanding restaurants, but my tip to you is don’t venture into town(if you do take an extra set of clothes, you will be drenched in sweat!!) stay at the hotel. We did on both our nights, sat in the garden, you could literally hear a pin drop. The food was “out of this world”,and far less expensive that the restaurants in Old Town Altea.
Now the staff. All were exceptional, even the owner was on hand serving, and even chambermaiding!
Now our bedroom. We booked late, and understandably they only had one room left, and this was the “restricted mobility” room. The only criticism I have is that the shower didn’t have a high wall mounted position,so you were having to shower with a hand held hose, and as the shower only had one side panelled, due to wheel chair access, well the bathroom just became like a swimming pool! By putting a higher setting for the shower, this would save the hotel so much time, and not having a smelly bathroom due to the dampness. Also what surprised me was the fact there wasn’t any shampoo or conditioner left in the room,so my tip is take your own.Again maybe this was due to a mobility room, but you would think they would have left toiletries. Finally if you are driving there, take your own pillows, theirs are horrendous!
I’m not deducting them a star for this,as the three days we were there was simply superb.
We have a holiday home just over an hour away,so for us it’s so accessible, but to anyone else it ps definitely worth going that extra mile!
It’s the 4th time we have come to this hotel. Vicenta the owner ALWAYS treats us like family!!! The service is incredible. Ester the waitress made us feel as if we were VIP. The food is incredible. The chef made us feel like royalty. The rooms are spacious and cool. The pool area is quiet and perfect for reading a book. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. If your looking for a getaway this IS the place!!! 😊☺️😊
