This is a terrible B&B to say the least. False advertising is so frustrating and the owners and staff was very unfriendly. There is no free parking, no breakfast in the room (you get a voucher for a brioche and coffee around the corner at a coffee shop that is quite limited, so we left without breakfast). The only reason we booked was for the "lake view room". There is no lake view and when I asked, I was told the lake is around the corner??? The staff barely spoke English and we were told on arrival that they don't accept credit cards....only cash??? This was the worst place I've ever stayed at. Please update the details as the information provided on Booking.com is incorrect!
On arrival we were met by an aggressive receptionist with little communication skills, resulting in a 3 way conversation via phone. She DEMANDED cash upfront for our stay. We were disturbed at this, as so asked to see the room (which was up a steep flight of steps) before payment. The bathroom was up further flights of stone steps which were an accident waiting to happen for the elderly (as are we), people with mobility issues or children. The receptionist (despite several attempts) was unable to unlock the bathroom door! How we were expected to cope for the stay I cannot begin to imagine. We were under the impression breakfast (which was included) would be at the establishment. Not so. Vouchers were proffered for heaven knows where. The issues with the stairs and bathroom led us to cancel the booking. The receptionist stated there would be no fee. The following day we were harrassed with demands to pay a cancellation fee or, the police would be involved. BOOKING.COM were of no help, advising us to pay the €80. Meeting up at the B&B we were faced with a man with a large, intimidating dog (possibly a pit bull). The receptionist again demanded cash, but this time for€94.40. We refused to pay cash and so she reluctantly accepted a credit card. We paid to be free of the intimidation. The whole experience left us shaken to the core. Anyone thinking of booking this establishment should rethink their plans. There are several hotels in the vicinity offering superior accomodation and frIendlier, professional staff.
Felon (owner) was so welcoming and are professional and warm. L'Arco di Charme is a short walk from the train station and is in a great location. The room is simple but authentic, there were dressing gowns, towels, toiletries and slippers. The bathroom was big enough for us and the shower was easy to use and a nice pressure. It is a lovely place to stay, very clean too. The TV has an option under settings to change the audio to English, which was great for us as our Italian vocabularly is minimal, but again, Felon came up trumps as she speaks good English and didn't mind that we didn't know any Italian apart from the pleasantries. Thank You and we will stay again if we're lucky enough to visit that part of the world again. In addition, we arrived very late as we missed our train but Felon welcomed us enthusiastically even though we must have caused her some anguish and we probably woke her up. Thanks again, :)
